Milford Sound: Breathtaking Full-Day Expedition from Te Anau

Absolutely incredible experience with the most amazing tour guide, Tania. I was lucky enough to be able to sit up front with Tania and she offered so much valuable information and advice not just in relation to the Milford sound tour but also other things for me to do whilst travelling solo through this beautiful country. The packed morning tea and packed lunch was delicious and super filling. Will absolutely recommend to anyone and everyone, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Tarnea was a lovely, thoughtful host with a wealth of knowledge on all things New Zealand. Despite the rainy weather Tarnea’s enthusiasm for all things waterfalls was contagious and a walk in the rain with offered umbrellas was a bonus. We were picked up at our door and given plenty of opportunity for stops to admire the changing views. The picnic morning tea and packaged lunch option was beautiful and fresh. We finished the day with a drink and a movie about the Fiordlands at Te Anau cinema. Great day.

We rode from te Anau to Milford sound. Very glad we didn’t drive. Tour provided lunch which had plenty of good food. Because it was a very rainy day there were water falls everywhere. I thought there would be more wildlife but at least saw 1 seal and 1 penguin.

If I could give this tour 10 stars out of 5 I would…and I’d give Tania 15 because she was amazing! It was all delightful!!!!

Amazing guide with great knowledge about the area. Loved the stories we got to hear on the way to Milford Sound and back. Milford Sound itself just stunning!!! Really enjoyed the day! Also loved the Lord of the Rings side facts we got to hear as well.

Amazing tour, our guide, Tania, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. We felt very safe in her care on the twisty roads! The cruise itself through Milford Sound was stunningly beautiful and we had ample time to get lots of footage of the beauty spots - even spotted a few penguins. We also saw some gorgeous sites on the drive to/from Milford Sound including some rainforest (The Chasm), a creek (Monkey), mirror lakes, and a waterfall (Hollyford). The picnic lunch catered for dietaries (one dairy free, one vegetarian) from local eatery, The Olive Cafe, was generous with the amount of snacks! We also got hot tea/coffee and a baked good mid-morning. I would highly recommend this tour from Te Anau and feel so lucky to have experienced it. The whole thing felt personalised and smooth. Thank you!

Amazing trip- team did a good job taking us to stops along the way, providing good takeaway lunch for us while we were on the boat, providing commentary during the drive and helping us to have a great time! Amazing sights and we were able to see penguins and seals on our boat tour. Highly recommend
