Unforgettable Chiang Rai: Private Temples & Cultural Gems

My driver Mr. Poon was an amazing tour guide during this all day adventure! We visited 4 temples: rainbow, white, blue and red. Each one incredibly unique and memorable. The guides driving was excellent and safe throughout the entire day. We had a delicious lunch at the white temple and it was fun learning about each of the unique aspects as well as having all my questions answered. I walked away learning a ton and had some of the best pictures from the trip taken by my guide. I would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a great day trip from Chiang Mai!

Saw 4 temples in one day from Chiang Mai on a private tour with M. Loved learning all about Buddhism and the different influences seen in the temple architecture and design. Had a delicious lunch at a tiny restaurant of M’s friend’s relative. Amazing authentic nam ngiao. No tourists. M was very efficient at the temples, so we saw everything without spending too much time. And he is an excellent photographer - got lots of great shots of me, which was fun b/c I am traveling solo. Incredible tour that started promptly at our hotel in Chiang Mai at 7AM. Our guide “M” was fantastic, expertly driving us from Chiang Mai to the sights in Chiang Rai, but also going above and beyond by stopping at a great hot springs and taking us to amazing local “restaurants” that were local spots you just would never experience without M’s guidance. “M” was a great guide, great driver and just a great person. Can’t recommend him enough.

We had an incredible day trip from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai with our guide! He was extremely knowledgeable about the temples and the area—especially since he grew up in Chiang Rai—and shared so many fascinating details that really brought everything to life. He also took us to an amazing local family restaurant (so much better than the touristy spots other groups ended up at!) and kept us well supplied with snacks and cold water throughout the day. His English was excellent, his sense of humor kept us laughing the whole way, and he was wonderfully flexible with our schedule and interests. If you’re planning a trip to Chiang Rai, don’t miss the chance to go with him—you’ll learn a lot, eat incredibly well, and have a great time doing it!

Beautiful temples of Chang Rai we had a nice drive there and enjoyed the our conversation with our guide Tong who was very professional, courteous and inforomative

Mr. “O” was very prompt and accommodating on the long van ride. He was an excellent tour guide. As it was a hot day, he always made sure the van was cooled down. He also accommodated a short stop at the Kayan village. He was a good host with a good sense of humor. I highly recommend him.

Our driver and guide, Tong, was exceptional in every way. He was always courteous and kind during our 12 hour excursion to the Temples of Chiang Ria. He was very knowledgeable about each temple and had a deep understanding of Buddhism and its relation to the Thailanese culture. His engaging personality was such that by the end of the trip, we became friends. I also want to say he was a very safe driver which made me very relaxed. A definite 10
