Fantastic experience, highly recommend to anyone who wants to recreate some local dishes back home. Chef Micheal (who is also a trained baker and bartender) was a brilliantly knowledgeable guide in the markets and very organised teacher in the open air kitchen where we made 5 equally delicious dishes, all just for me and my traveling companion. I don't know how they could have made it any better!

We booked the day before and ended up with a private tour for two and it was the perfect way to finish our trip to Vietnam. Chef Michael gave us a great tour of the market to get fresh ingredients then we rode on the back of his and his friend's scooters back to the village to cook. Fantastic experience! We made and ate grilled eggplant, banana blossom and green papaya salad with quail eggs and tofu, cao lau noodles with chicken, bahn xeo pancake with oyster mushrooms, and caramelized lady finger bananas. The peanut chutney was stunning. One of my favorite meals of the trip, and simple enough to recreate at home with the recipes he's given us.

I booked a last minute cooking class and turned out I was the only person that signed up! It still ended up being an incredible experience - if not better. Michael showed me around the market and introduced me to different types of spices, fruits, and the cao lau noodles only found in Hoi An. Afterwards, we did the basket boat ride that was completely away from tourists. It felt really special being the only people on the river. I got lucky and caught a few crabs! The last stop of the tour was the cooking class. We made a green papaya salad, eggplant, cao lau noodles, and banh xeo. The food was extremely delicious and I was able to take my leftovers home. Thank you Michael and Hoi An Eco tours for the warm hospitality and an amazing afternoon!

Great food and great fun on a rainy day. Tom is a personable teacher with lots of culinary tips to take home. I would recommend this activity for any travellers

Everything about this tour was perfect! Our tour guide Michael had pretty much perfect English, and he was super friendly and funny. We started the day with a tour round the markets, with some facts about the fruit / vegetables available in Vietnam. We then had a car transfer (available upon request instead of the scooter) to the basket boat crab fishing which was so much fun! For anyone concerned you don’t kill the crabs, you catch them and release them again. We then did our cooking class which was so much fun! Even if you’re not the most adventurous eater, there are plenty of options and great to see how the food was prepared. We couldn’t recommend this tour enough, by far our favourite thing we’ve done in Hoi An. :)

It was a great experience from visiting the market where they buy the food for the class, to a coconut boat ride where we fished for crab, to preparing and cooking our 5 dishes to eat. Lovely friendly people. Good fun experience

We had a lovely afternoon at the cooking class, which included going on the coconut boat and doing crabbing with a lovely tour guide. The motorbike journey was also very scenic and the drivers were very safe. The fee was reasonable for all included. We had a tour of the market with the locals which was interesting. Our chef was attentive and friendly along with the other staff members. The food was divine and the ingredients fresh. We made 5 dishes and ate them. They also had a good choice of drinks for us. Thank you again!!

I would highly recommend this tour! We started with a small journey through local markets where we were taught about local produce. We were taken in motorbikes to the basket boats where we journeyed down the river and caught and released small crabs the traditional way. The real highlight was the cooking class and how incredible the food tasted. We had a good amount of contribution to the meals where Michael would show us how to do it and we would finish the prep and cooking. Michael was an incredible host and guide.

Absolutely amazing! Firstly, went with Michael who introduced me to the Hoi An market with a thorough walkthrough and explaining all the ingredients and stalls in the market, before going to fishing in Coconut Forest and then going back to prepare 5 Vietnamese dishes! After eating the food and drinks, Ms Susu drove us to Mint Tea garden walking us through the crops when agriculture before one of the locals taught us how to prepare, plant and water the plants. It was all a brand new and great experience - would recommend to everyone!
