Kayak and canoe tour to Roca Vecchia and La Grotta della Poesia

The tour was wonderful. Our guide had thorough knowledge of Apulia as well as the geology and history of the region. We had a great kayak experience with plenty of time for swimming and exploring. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to have a fun outdoor adventure and also learn about the area.

My son and I enjoyed this kayaking trip. Rokamel was easy to find and we were greeted by a man and a teenager, both who spoke good English as well as French, German (and Italian, of course!). We were given a briefing and kitted with life jackets and paddles, then we set off. The sea was much harder to kayak in than the lakes we had recently done, so both my son and I did feel a bit concerned at how we would manage 3 hours, but the trip was broken up into sections, which made it easier. We visited a little sandy cavern where the top had fallen in decades before, leaving it open roofed. We then went towards the Cave of Poetry, but this is sadly now closed to visitors due to erosion, so we could not enter. We did enter a couple of other caves though, one by boat and one by swimming, which was fun. We had a nice group, mostly French, about 9 of us in total. When I swam and my son didn't wish to, the teenager (Aghasto, I think?), stayed with my son and I could see them chatting away, which was lovely. I would definitely recommend this trip, it was a good morning, worked off some Italian food and enjoyed the scenery.

We had a fantastic time. We were a group of 2 adults and 2 children and we used two double kayaks. The guide was helpful and informative and spoke excellent English.

Really enjoyable. Interesting and informative guide (Piergiogio). Safety clearly important to this company. Beautiful scenery and interesting commentary and explanations. Good organisation and communication prior to the trip when the date needed to be changed due to poor weather. However, trip should clearly highlight that it is no longer possible to kayak into the Grotta della Poesia or even swim into it as it is now protected to prevent further erosion. I absolutely support preserving it but had I known this might I might not have booked the trip and gone for a different one and I would have planned to visit the cave from the land side prior to the trip. Unfortunately we ran out of time for that as the trip was on the last afternoon of our stay.

Amazing half-day experience!! Everything with the tour was really well organised and Piergiorgio was a great guide!! He is very knowledgeable of the area and can show you plenty of secret gems! We had a very good and fun time while exploring the numerous caves

What an incredible expirence, the guides were fantastic, knowledgable about the history of the caves, supportive and just the most lovely team. We set off in not such good weather but this did not spoil the trip at all. We got to visit the most amazing caves with great stories about the history. This was such an expirence hosted by locals with many interesting facts about the area. We can’t thank you all enough, would recommend this trip to all. It’s a full work out on the body but worth the aches and pains.

Unfortunately, due to bad weather conditions (waves and wind), the tour has been cancelled. This review aims at showing that even in case of cancellation, the client services will very well managed. You can easily reach out to the Italian company providing the tour via email. Thanks to Nunzia we got informed about the cancellation. Money was refunded to my account.

We were a small group of 4 people for the tour. I definitely recommend booking this tour: communication was clear, information was interesting and not too much - just enough to understand the history of the places. Piergiorgio is a lovely host, very chill and knowledgeable about kayak. We saw many different smaller and bigger caves and it was fun to be in the water for a swim too.

A very good experience, we toured caves and unique corners. The history of the place we loved. Guide Gorgio explained it very well in Spanish, and thanks to him it was very easy. Surely, Great, I'd repeat.
