REAL LONDON AND HISTORY! Hi! I'm Billy, I'm a London Black Cab Driver and tour guide. Like other cabby guides, I did the WCHCD Cabbie Guides course, but I went on to do more... I've always been building new tours, researching and learning more and more about British history. I did a history degree between 2020-2024, graduating 1st class in September 2024. I love history so much, that I've started to broadcast podcasts on discussing British history, London and more. I love showing my guests what makes London so special, the city is 2000 years old, and I believe every visitor should really experience why it is so special! As the owner and lead guide of London History Taxi Tours, my motto is: Learn London - Love London - Live London or, depending how you look at it LEARN LONDON - LIVE LONDON - LOVE LONDON I see it as London isn't something you just visit, but something you embrace! Key inclusions: History Grad Qualified Local Guide Black Cab / Walking Hybird Photography

From the moment we climbed into Billy’s pristine Black Cab, it was clear this tour would exceed expectations. The vehicle was completely spotless, impeccably maintained, and air‑conditioned throughout—even on a hot summer morning—while the cab’s panoramic sunroof provided amazing photo ops. Billy’s depth of knowledge about British history was simply extraordinary. He did not just rattle off facts—he wove eras together with engaging storytelling, contextualising Tudor court intrigue, World War II monuments, and the cultural assimilation of London. What really set him apart was how personal the experience felt. Billy took the time to ask about our interests—are you drawn to royal history, architecture, or Victorian London?—then tailored the route accordingly. He flexibly paused or skipped segments that we were going to experience other planned excursions. On top of all that, he snapped and edited superb photos of us in front of landmarks like The Globe Theatre and the Tower of London. He even offered recommendations for pubs and museums beyond the tour. Booking Billy means a private, immersive, and expertly guided journey through London’s history, perfectly calibrated to your pace and interests.

My family which included 2 teens, 2 adults and my 84 year old mother did an extended London black cab tour with Billy in July. I have done many private tours in many cities and this was easily one of the best. Billy was so knowledgable, incredibly friendly and able to engage us all despite our varying ages. He took us to all the mainstream sites and a few off the beaten path ones, all with great historical significance. I was impressed with how kind and accomodating he was with my mother, he was able to get us up close to all the sites and he knew and had access to places to stop the car very close to the sites so she didn't have to walk very far at all. We were very fortunate to have him as our guide for the day, and I highly recommend this tour. I hope to have him as a guide again in the future.

I heard and read amazing things about Billy and his personalized tour of London—he exceeded all expectations! Not only is having your own private black cab with a true Londoner the best way to maximize a tour of London— Billy customizes everything to YOU! It’s not his tour— it’s YOURS! Our group included my husband and I, our 20 yr old son and his two friends. Billy catered to a variety of interests in everything from Roman and WWI history.. to the Great Fire of London.. to Rock history and the Monarchy. We have Pennsylvania roots but now live in Boston— so Billy even took us to the oldest church in the City of London where William Penn was baptized and John Quincy Adams was married. Walking down into the crypt (675AD) at All Hallow’s by the Tower was jaw-dropping. Billy himself is funny, engaging, and effortless as he drives you around and shares his knowledge of London and its history. Nothing feels rehearsed.. he just knows his stuff! And as a veteran journalist myself.. I was so impressed how he quickly engaged with and got to know us and what would create the most tailored experience for our group. This experience is worth every pence! Schedule it early in your visit.. because Billy not only gives you the lay of land, he can offer recommendations for further exploration of London’s most famous landmarks and lesser known gems. He also knows the best dining spots and pubs.. he’s like a 24/7 concierge service for your entire stay. Finally— let Billy take pictures of your day— he’s fantastic with a camera! Billy— Thanks again and Cheers to you.. and look us up when you’re next in Boston! The Shipmans

We had four days in London and one of our party had never been, so we wanted a cab tour the first day to cover all the major sights. I had done this before with a regular black cabby, with a thick accent, and loved seeing things but wanted something more structured. After much research, including history focused, walking, and other cabby tours, I picked Billy. He was the PERFECT combination of it all. Here is why we loved Billy and think EVERYONE should pick him if you want an overview vs a solid day of walk and talk. You will see ALL of the major sights and things you didnt even plan on - like roman wall remains and remains of an ancient roman amphitheater, Fleet street, and as you drive past many places you don't stop at, Billy is pointing out these things and teaching you history - like the Bar locations where the royalty has to ask permission of the mayor to enter, and the monuments to the great fire...the volume of sights was extraordinary. Billy offers you the option to customize your tour to have more or less history information (he is studying at university so knows quite a lot), and more or less stop and walk. With us, we booked a four hour tour and ended up with six hours (my poor brain). He collected us from Hyde Park and tailored the route for that, ending at Shakespeare's Globe theatre area. We had spots where he parked and walked with us, some where he dropped us (like Buckingham palace) and some where he idled and pointed things out, and some where we drove past with his narrations (like the Mall having flags up from coronation, and passing St. James Park, the dragon topped bar in Londinium). We literally saw more than you could want on this tour. Billy is super easy going, very honest, and easy to understand, and just a wonderful guide. Starting our trip with his tour resulted in us tuning our remaining days to revisit areas we had not expected to spend time, like Fleet Street. We found a ton of hidden, interesting things there that we would not otherwise have seen. I would book him again in a heartbeat. We had booked him through Marriot Bonvoy/Viator, but you can book directly with London History Taxi Tours website. FYI - This was a group of four adult family members, not teens, but Tripadvisor doesn't give an option for us to specify that.

Billy is the best!! My family of 5 (ages 16-50) went on the black cab tour and were very impressed. If you are wanting to see as much of London as possible in a short amount of time, Billy is your man. He was very knowledgeable about the city and is such an enthusiastic guide. the cab was air-conditioned and comfortable with a massive sunroof that allows you to take in the tallest of sights.

Billy took us through the making of London and gave us many insights into the city it is today. He was friendly, engaging and we thoroughly enjoyed our day out with him. He was always ready to help and made us laugh many times. He completely tailored the day to us and it was excellent to relax and be driven around the city while also hearing the best stories. Thank you Billy for making our day our so memorable!

Can’t speak highly enough about Ian, he’s so friendly and accommodating! We did a custom tour with loads of extras in between that were the icing on the cake! If I could take him to every European country to be my tour guide I would! 10 stars ⭐️

Absolutely fantastic way to hit the highlights of London if you have only have four hours to spare. Billy and his team are absolute professionals with years of experience as London cab drivers and tour guides. Our driver, Simon, was very easy going, helpful, and full of energy.

I can't say enough! Billy was incredible. Our trip to London would not have been nearly as amazing as it was without the expertise of Billy. Not only is he extremely knowledgeable, he happened to be extremely resourceful, witty and pleasant in every way. So much, that I actually asked if he'd drive us around the very next day for a second day of adventures. I was traveling with my 11 year old son from the US. Billy spoke with us in advance about our interest and from there our work was done! After learning of our interests a he booked our day and it seemed to flow just perfectly. Billy was so kind to take memorable photos of us along the way, he was very conscious of my son throughout our tour, asking if he had any questions along the way and sharing fun details along the tour that not only would interest me but would amuse an 11 year old boy as well. One thing I must say that was stuck out very much and I feel sets Billy apart, not only was he a resource during out tour, he mentioned time and time again, I could reach out to him during my stay with questions, suggestions on dining, bookings, things to do, etc. And I did! This is an incredible service he offered me, mainly because this was our first time to London and we really did need assistance navigating for the first few days. Billy, thanks again. You made our trip so special. Frankie will forever remember you,Cheers Mate from the both of us! When we return, we will definitely be reaching out!
