Sintra & Cascais: Chic Beetle Convertible Escape

Alrhought they canceled the beetle car a few days prior, they replaced it with a very nice van, it worked out since it was very windy and everyone’s allergies were bad, plus I had a recent knee injury so we had more room. Our tour guide Margarida was wonderful, we had to deviate from the normal schedule because I wasn’t able to do stairs or steep hill climbing so she did her very best in coming up with other things to see and got us as close as she could to the Palace and castles, she took us to a little shop in downtown Sintra to taste some liquors, and stopped by a cafe for some delicious pastries, she made our trip special by going out of her way for me. Dropping me off somewhere and then finding a parking spot sometimes far away and then would run back to the car to pick me up, we drove through some beautiful area, where she would point out important palace’s and castles, we ended up on Pink Street which she offered to take us after I noticed it driving by. I recommend having a drink or something to eat there, it was really nice. We had an amazing experience with Fred (Frederico). He is kind, funny and easy going. He told us a lot of ins and outs about different things in Sintra and he knew the best places for food (were we came back a lot of times that the days after). We took a trip from sintra to cabo da roca and finally to Cascais. Miguel was great driving us around recommending the best time and place in Sintra. He skipped the queues, recommended the good reasonably priced restaurants and took us to some of the most amazing places. Cabo da Roca was amazing experience, didn't want to come back. The drive to Cascais was even better, I could not thank more enough

He is knowledgeable and really cares that visitors to his home town enjoy their visit. We were able to see much more in one day than we could have seen in 2 days on our own. Thank you, Fred!

We had a very nice trip to Sintra with Fred. I had a wheelchair and Fred certainly took an extra effort to make sure the trip was convenient even with the chair. Fred is very knowable and willing to personalize the experience. He really made the trip to be one of the highlights of our visit to Portugal!

Fred is knowledgeable, personable and has an excellent manner about him. He was full of great tips to avoid the crowds, took us to the hidden beauty spots of Sintra and really personalised the experience for us. Sintra is a wonderland of architectural gems and an afternoon really wasn't enough to do it justice, but Fred knew how to make sure we didn't leave without missing the highlights. A private tour is more expensive than a lot of the other options but when you see the queues for the buses you'll know it's worth it. Highly recommended.

I am a seasoned traveler who’s been there and back, had my share of tours (but also not afraid to just grab a map and go), but being solo on this trip I decided to take the plunge and seek out a tour guide. I don’t know if the stars were aligned, the universe was feeling sorry for me, or I just plain old got lucky- but I found Fred and I had two of the most amazing touring days of my I-am-a-jaded-traveler life. Yes, the VW convertible will up your image in the cool factor, but thats not the take away. Fred is a native to Sintra, speaks great English, is courteous, knowledgeable and listens to what you want to do or see. There was never pressure for pricing, or schedule or timing - think someone letting a guide genie out of a bottle for your wishes. He can take you to the major sights or to the hidden local gems. I was hesitant to even write this review in fear I won’t be able to have his tour when I return!

We visited Sintra during a last-minute trip to Portugal, two friends and I. We ran into Amigo Fred looking for tours in Sintra and how lucky we got!. He listened to what we wanted to see, we had first access to the attractions in Sintra, as well as all the historic and cool description of the actual day-to-day life in Portugal. Extra bonus was the great view we got while driving in little beetle. Fred is a very courteous and knowledgeable, he made our stay extremely enjoyable while professional. I would definitely recommend Amigo Fred!

Très belle excursion, j’ai adorer le fait de ne pas suivre un groupe et d’avoir le choix sur ce que je veux voir et pas voir . Frederico vraiment sympathique et nous a fait découvrir des endroits que nous aurions pas trouver seul . A recommander sans hésitation.

Une amie m'avait recommandé Frederico pour une visite guidée de Sintra et ses trésors. Nous étions au début de notre voyage et ce fût une bonne décision. Nous voyons qu'il est amoureux de son village, Il nous prend à notre hôtel, achète nos billets, nous dit ce qu'il faut visiter à l'intérieur des sites et pendant ce temps là il nous attend. Il nous a fait découvrir de charmants endroits et en plus avec une Beetle convertible, j'ai pu prendre de très belles photos pendant le trajet. Nous avons gagné énormément de temps car nous n'avions qu'une journée. Nous l'avons réservé pour un autre tour guidé à Lisbonne. Tout aussi satisfaite, certaine que nous n'aurions jamais pu voir tout ce que nous avons visité en si peu de temps avec en prime l'histoire des monuments (qu'il connaît très bien). Pour le prix je ne peux me prononcer c'est selon la demande du client. C'est une personne charmante, bien éduqué, attentionnée et à l'écoute de ses clients. Je le recommande fortement. J'y suis allé avec ma fille adulte.
