Garbatella is a unique neighborhood in the world. Born as a housing district for the workers who would build the factories of the nascent Ostiense industrial district, it was conceived in an innovative way: condominiums (called "plots") consisting of 2 or 3-storey houses in neo-baroque style with shared gardens in which the inhabitants could socialize.
