Anna, the owner and vintner was a wonderful hostess, justifiably very proud of her relatively new winery. We toured, tasted her excellent wines, and were served a fabulous lunch. We absolutely and strongly recommend a visit to Artesana Winery.

We had a wonderful visit at 2 wineries. Miguel was a most gracious host and a great knowledge of wine and Uruguay. The hosts at the wineries were very nice and informative. We had food at both wineries to go along with the tastings. A most enjoyable day. I highly recommend!

We toured the Pizzorno winery outside of Montevideo. A van picked us up from our hotel. The tour started on time and we we greeted warmly by our guide Gonzalo. After a 30 minute ride that was full of informative narrative, we arrived at the vineyards. The staff at Pizzorno started us off with a wine tasting and tapas. We were given a technical explanation for their wine bottling process beginning with the harvest. Then we were guided through the production area and cellar. Our tour was expertly translated into English for us. Following the tour we enjoyed a paired three course lunch. The food and wine were exceptional. We were only able to purchase one bottle of wine in the shop due the restrictions of our air travel schedule. We would highly recommend this tour. Gonzalo was the best!!!

Guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Wines and lunch were very good. Guide was late picking us up.

We visited the winery with a small tour group and were given an interesting escorted trip around the vineyards and the winery itself, which is located in caves previously used by the airforce to store and maintain fighter jets. Following the tour, we were entertained to a magnificent lunch and wine tasting. The whole experience was superb and I could recommend it highly.

I traveled to several cities in South America for a two week vacation. On the 2nd to last day we did a private 8 person wine tour in Montevideo with Damian. We all agreed it was the best part of our entire trip! Damian was friendly, knowledgeable, and (selfishly) his English was fantastic. I don't expect individuals in other countries to know English, but it make the experience that much better that he did. Also, the wineries he chose for us were beautiful! None were overly crowded and we had the perfect mix of wine tasting but also learning more about the vineyard and process. We were all completely surprised by how great this was! As someone who has traveled to Napa, Sonoma, and differently places in Italy, this was definitely a top wine experience. If I go back to Montevideo, 120% would I do this again.

Damian and I exchanged several emails in arranging this day. His command of English is excellent. He met us at the cruise ship port, drove us to Spinoglio Winery where we had a walk around the property with the wine maker. We then had a private tasting of their very good wines accompanied with a cheese and salami plate. This was followed by an excellent lunch. During the day both the owner and his wife stopped by to greet us and thank us for coming. This was one of the best wine tasting days I have ever had.

Diego picked us up from our ferry at Colonia del Sacramento promptly and drove us an hour away to Carmelo wine country. We visited two wineries, Irurtia and El Legado. The first is a larger operation and the latter a smaller, family owned business. El Legado stole the show-beautiful grounds and personal service by owner and sons and a charcuterie board awaited us. They are opening a small hotel soon so do yourself a favor and see if it is open when you go and stay there if so! We tried three wines at each winery (and they were healthy pours!). I would highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for a day trip from Buenos Aires or anyone staying in Uruguay. Even if you aren't into wine, Diego was so welcoming and fun to talk to, we could have hung out with him all day! He even stored our purchases for us when we got back to Colonia until our ferry left that night so we didn't have to carry it around. Thank you Diego for your friendliness and hospitality!!!

We purchased Borravino’s one-day wine tour from Colonia del Sacramento to Carmelo in late November, and it was exceptional — one of the best and most memorable days of a nearly two-week trip. Damian was the perfect host, making sure we were able to see and enjoy everything at our own pace. He was communicative, congenial, knowledgeable, helpful and adaptable. And the wineries themselves were excellent. We’re already talking with friends about a return visit to Argentina in a few years and about hiring Damian to guide us through the wineries of Mendoza as part of that. We would not hesitate to recommend Damian or Borravino Wine Tours to anyone considering a visit to the wine regions of Argentina and Uruguay.

If you only do one tour while visiting Montevideo, let this be the one. Damian picked us up in the morning and we drove out to the first winery, Spinoglio, a lovely family owned place. The owner, Alexandra, showed us around and told us the history of this winery which has been in her husband's family for four generations. We had a delicious tasting where both Alexandra and Damian regaled us with stories & information on Uruguay and its wine making traditions. We then drove to Pizzorno, a larger more commercial winery, where we were greeted by the grandson Francisco. We had a nice tour of the winery and another tasting. Damian was helpful, knowledgeable and very sympathique. We got back to our place in Montevideo around 17:00 after a perfect day. We cannot recommend this tour enough!
