We will be hiking up Lions Head, Cape Town's most Instragram'able hike. We plan to either catch the sunset over the Atlantic Ocean or sunrise from the Hottentots Holland mountains. We enjoy some amazing photo opportunities before our descent. During a sunset hike, we descend in the dark using our flashlights (provided). During a sunrise hike, we may hike the first part in the dark using our flashlights (provided). While the hike is regarded as easier than Table Mountain, it still involves steep rocky and narrow terrain at certain points from about half up way and a section where the use of steel handles and chains need to be used to get up 2 pitches of about 3 meters each (only up and not down). Quite adventurous indeed. This hike has been an age old tradition for locals especially during the full moon and on clear/windless nights/mornings where the lights of the city below dazzle and the moon and stars show off its beauty in the night sky.

The Lion’s Head sunrise hike offers stunning views and a memorable adventure. Complete the sunrise hike up Lions Head with Taureq. Couldn’t fault anything about it. Clear communication after the booking. Guide made sure we were safe & well informed on the hike. Amazing views at the top. Taureq also shared lots of information about the mountains, Cape Town as a whole, & his own family history.

Being a Solo traveler it was amazing to share this experience with an amazing group of people, specially with an amazing guide as Codi he was making sure all the group was ok and helping if needed, what made this experience even more beautiful was hearing this story and see the way of life of someone raised and born in Cape Town I would do it again with him my eyes closed Many thanks Codi

This is one of the best hikes I’ve done! Kurt was a wonderful guide - he was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and pleasant. We had a group of about 11, and he was able to keep us moving along, no matter our fitness level. He helped us climb all the way to the top, took amazing videos and photos of us along the way, and helped find the best spots to enjoy the sunset. He also gave us an important and interesting history lesson of South Africa. Highly recommend!

Extremeley good guide and made us feel very safe and confident despite having friends who have a fear of heights and very inexperienced trekkers. Dino was just amazing

I went with my husband and we had the best time! The group we hiked with was lovely, and our guide shared so much of his own knowledge and experiences, which made the hike even more special. I couldn’t recommend this hike enough. We went for sunrise, and it was truly a highlight of our trip.

This is definitely a must do if you are in Cape Town, waking up early in the middle of the night will be compensate with the amazing experience you will have. Dino the guide explained everything very well, he was motivating and taking care of the group all the time. He will show you the best spots for pictures, i totally recommend having a tour with him!
