There were just the two of us on the tour, so we got a really personalised experience. Our guide Lurdes was wonderful, mixing history, places and other facts about Funchal with life in Madeira. Highlight was the market. The tour finished with a wine tasting.

My boyfriend and I stayed our last days of our trip in Funchal and decided to go for a walking tour with a tasting of Madeira’s famous wine included! We are very happy that we have chosen the tour with Luís! He is just great! We were lucky to have a private tour with him which made it very personal and private obviously :)! Luís shows you great selected places, explains all the facts and history and answers all your questions about the island, traditions and usual life in Madeira! We really enjoyed our three hours with him and can just recommend it! The wine tour was also very interesting and the tasting very tasty :D! Thanks Luís! It was a pleasure to meet you and a great last experience on this beautiful island!

This walking tour was our introduction to Funchal. Luis skilfully guided us through city centre and old town. He included history and current information. We visited the Farmers Market where we learned about passion fruit, were awed by the fish mongers, delighted in amazing chocolate and enjoyed the beautiful flowers. Following his tour, we then proceeded to Blandy’s. Here we learned about Madeiran wine - it’s unique! This segment of the tour ended with a wine tasting. If this is your first visit to Madeira, I’d recommend touring with Luis.

As arranged I was collected from my hotel, who arrived on time. It turned out I was the only one on the tour. I was driven into town then we started our walk. Although it’s not my first visit to Funchal, I was taken to places I’d not know of. Visiting inside the cathedral was extremely special, I really didn’t know how interesting the history was also I was pointed out certain thins I may have missed. A truly memorable experience. Everything ran to time, whilst walking I got to understand what living in Maderia is like first hand. Sometimes we need to know about real life in countries we visit, we get the full experience. Very good English, interesting and I felt as a solo tourist completely safe. Finished off at Blandys which was where we parted company. After an excellent tour and tasting session! My guide was waiting for me outside, although I chose to say in Funchal him coming back was very comforting to me to have options. I highly recommend doing this tour, there can be many things that are missed when you are on your own.

On this tour we met with our guide João in the morning near the blandy's and from there we went to discover the beautiful city of Funchal. We entered several places always with explanations and details of our guide. We loved to visit the Lavradores market, the historic area of Funchal and taste the traditional honey cake as well as the tour at the end the visit to the wines, explanation and taste of Madeira wines. We loved it!!
