Our guide was absolutely superb! She talked us through the terrible experience of her family and her country. The museum is interactive and very well put together. 5 stars!

Our guide was very good and interesting explaining the chronology of how Romania became communist and the consequences for the people. We saw the important landmarks and went to the Communist museum. We had both an explanation of the museum and enough time to explore the small museum on our own. The tour gave more insight into what occurred in Romania then just going to the museum on your own and the length was just right.

With this tour you got to experience life in Communist Bucharest. The small museum had a great deal of information.

A walk through communist Bucharest with Alexandria (Ali) was extremely informative and enjoyable. It proved a memorable excursion with Ali balancing a traumatic period of Romania’s history using her encyclopaedic knowledge of events post World War II and combing it with humour and sensitivity. This tour is highly recommended as it leaves the tourists with a richer understanding of how far Bucharest has travelled on its journey to transform itself into a modern day democratic society amidst on-going challenges. We wish them well.

My son and I went on the 'communism in Bucharest' tour last week while we were in town for the United game and we were not disappointed. Easy meeting point and Ali was our tour guide. She proved to be extremely knowledgeable on the subject and was able to answer all our questions. We walked for 2.5hrs but it only seemed like 1hr such was how much we enjoyed it. If you are in Bucharest and want to get a really good idea of what communism did and has done to the city, I could not recommend this tour any higher. Thanks Ali.

My husband and I are both in our 60s and very well travelled. We have been on tours with many guides. Last night on the communist walking tour with Bogdan was up there with one of the best if not the best. We learned so much but it was always engaging whilst remaining professional. Absolutely superb. We felt very lucky to have got Bogdan as our guide. Don’t hesitate, just spend a few hours with him.

Highly recommend this walk. Bogdan is an excellent storyteller - knowledgeable and passionate. What I learned from his compelling explanations really had an impact on me. Take this tour before you visit Parliament or Casa Ceausescu - you will have a better perspective.

Catalina is an amazing guide who told us a lot of stories. Such a fascinating experience for the first time to visit Romania.

We did the English language Communist era walking tour with Catalina, and we enjoyed it very much. We had already been to The Museum of Communism, and visited The Palace Of The Parliaments, so we thought there might’ve been a lot of overlap, but Catalina told the story of the post-war regime brilliantly, and she had some fascinating insights into the legacy of the Communist era on the Romanian people. As it was a Saturday, and the weather was good (shout-out to the scouse lads wearing shorts!) there was a large group on this tour, but the guide did her best to ensure that everyone could hear, and ask questions if they wanted. We always try to do a walking tour when we visit a city, as we find it’s the best way to orientate yourself, and see the place through the eyes of a local, and Catalina’s tour successfully did both of these things. The tour was nominally free, but like all free walking tours, it’s understood that you tip the tour guide at the end. So shame on the people who dodged off without tipping the guide. We really enjoyed the tour, we found Catalina to be a friendly, interesting and knowledgeable guide. We would certainly recommend this tour.

Bogdan was an excellent tour guide. He made it all very interesting and at times amusing / funny and answered all our questions. Tour was at a good pace and I did the old town and the parliament tour in the morning on the same day. I would highly recommend these tours to anyone wanting to learn about the history of Bucharest. Quite tiring at the end but well worth it.
