1. The Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial is located in Colleville-sur-Mer, near Bayeux in Normandy, France. It is a World War II cemetery that was established on June 8, 1944, two days after the D-Day landings on June 6, 1944. The cemetery covers over 172 acres and contains the graves of 9,387 American soldiers who died during the Normandy campaign. It is one of fourteen permanent American cemeteries established overseas and is the final resting place for many of the soldiers who died during the invasion to liberate Europe from Nazi Germany.

In addition to the graves, there is a memorial that overlooks Omaha Beach, the site of some of the heaviest fighting during the D-Day invasion. The memorial is a semicircular colonnade with a bronze statue in the center that represents the Spirit of American Youth. The names of 1,557 soldiers who were missing in action are inscribed on the walls of the memorial.

3. There is no admission fee to enter the cemetery or memorial. However, visitors are required to go through security screening at the entrance. Guided tours are available for a fee and can be arranged in advance. There is no public transportation to the cemetery, but it can be accessed by car or by taking a tour bus from Bayeux. The cemetery is located approximately 25 kilometers from Bayeux.
