The art museum "Tretyakov Gallery" is widely known throughout the world. The unique collection of Russian art of the Tretyakov Gallery is one of the largest in the world.

The founders of the Tretyakov Gallery are brothers Pavel and Sergey Tretyakov. The foundation date of the gallery is considered to be 1856, although the gallery was presented to the public in 1867, and in 1892 the Tretyakov brothers presented their collection of samples of ancient Russian art to the city. Later it was supplemented by Russian painting and sculpture of different periods, as well as drawings by a European school.

Near the main building of the gallery is an engineering building, in which are located services to ensure the safety of exhibits. It also hosts temporary thematic exhibitions.
