Haifa, Akko and Rosh Hanikra, Reaching new heights along the Mediterranean Shore
Enjoy a day exploring Israel’s northern Mediterranean shore from the vibrant market in Akko to the cliffs of Rosh Hanikra.
Your tour begins in Haifa at one of the prettiest sites, the Bahai Gardens. The Bahai religion originated in Iran and its followers decided to build their world center in Haifa when they came under persecution. Admire the stunning views from the Louis Promenade, nicknamed the Balcony of the Country, a 400 meter (yard) long promenade at the top of the Bahai Gardens. This impressive spot offers a truly spectacular view.
Tour Akko, the ancient port city built and influenced by the Crusaders, Arabs, Ottoman Turks and the British. Many tourists visit the Old City of Acre without realizing that there is a complete city beneath the ancient streets. The Acre Crusader City was built during the 12th century and destroyed in 1291 when the Mamluks conquered Acre and built their own city on the Crusader ruins. Akko's souk (market place) is right in the center of the Old City and is a fun and vibrant bazaar full of fresh produce, cheap eats, buckets of spices, souvenirs and more.
Travel to Rosh Hanikra, with the stunning chalk-white cliffs at Israel’s northernmost coastal border. Enjoy the view of the Mediterranean coastline stretched out before you, then take the cable car down beneath the cliffs to the grottos below and tour the system of underground caves eroded by pounding waves over thousands of years.
