NYC's Authentic Soul: Harlem to Coney Island Boroughs Tour

I wanted to see something of the city outside Manhattan. I very much enjoyed the historical facts Jorge had to share along the way. He also focused on inter-borough and intra-borough cultural differences that were interesting. I enjoyed the stops along the way. The tour advertisement mentioned DUMBO. That’s one of the reasons I took it. I particularly wanted a picture there. We drove by the iconic spot with Jorge saying take a picture from the bus. I was disappointed and in no position, from where I was sitting, to get a picture, and certainly not the pic I wanted. The stop at Prospect Park was lovely. I think the company should advertise Prospect Park vs. DUMBO. There was some letdown in Coney Island as well. There was time to use the facilities and order and eat lunch, or time to see the boardwalk and some of the park, but not both. I don’t think, knowing what I know now, that I would have taken the Coney Island extension. I assumed our opportunity to eat Nathan’s hotdogs would be on the boardwalk. So, my concerns with the tour had to do with my expectations not matching reality in all cases. That is not entirely the tour’s fault. As I didn’t get to the 1964 World’s Fair, much as I’d have liked to, I enjoyed seeing the Unisphere. Overall, the tour was interesting, and Jorge was an excellent guide. He was attentive to his passengers as needed, and he was a wealth of knowledge. I also appreciated the tour leaving and ending on time. It was a good overview. We covered lots of territory.

Not sufficient time on coney island to have lunch AND get down to boardwalk. So make your forced choice.

Our guide Jorge made the entire tour entertaining and informative. Learned so much about the different boroughs: highly recommend!

Joseph was a nice tour guide who kept our tour on time and provided a lot of information on our bus ride. We had hop off opportunities which allowed for stretching, bathroom breaks and photo ops. Last stop of the tour was Coney Island with ample time for eating, brief sight seeing and maybe gift shopping. We returned to Grand Central station for the end. The tour was great, I only wished we had been able to stop off at Little Italy and China town for a lunch, instead of Coney Island. I would have gladly traded off one of the stops for that opportunity. Also, any bathroom I visited was clean. Overall great tour and I would recommend it.

Excellent tour, with plenty of opportunities to take some awesome photos of various famous locations. Very knowledgeable tour guide.

Jorge was excellent! Coney Island was the least interesting thing by far, but it still added to our sense of the variety within NY.

Great tour of the boroughs of New York(except Staten Island) if you are visiting.Our tour guide Emmanuel from Amigo tours was very knowledgeable.Hemade the tour enjoy.- able.The driver,Oscar was a great professional.

The tour was really educational. It was nice to see the different cultures and different styles of the communities shown in each of the Burroughs. The details he knew were impressive. There was only one thing I would suggest that he adjust is to call the Blacks he referenced who migrated from the south after being freed “those who were enslaved” not the slaves.

Some stops can be skipped, others should be longer, but in my opinion, the tour is not worth it. I will not recommend it. It has been quite borred.

Great tour very informative guide. The driver was super skilled navigating that big bus through some tight spaces. Highly recommend this tour.
