The garden was created by French painter Jacques Majorelle in the 1920s and 1930s, and was later bought by fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and his partner Pierre Bergé in 1980. The garden is famous for its vibrant blue structures, cacti and exotic plant species from five continents. There are also several small museums featuring Islamic art, Berber culture, and Yves Saint Laurent’s personal art collection. The garden is a popular tourist attraction and was visited by over 800,000 people in 2019.
