Great Barrier Reef: Port Douglas' Ultimate Outer Reef Cruise

If you are not a strong swimmer, you can still do this reef tour. The staff are super helpful, I even had a personalised snorkel, since I was feeling anxious and my guide was so encouraging and helpful. On the other 2 reefs that we visited I was able to swim out and one crew member ferried me back to the boat and he was a strong swimmer so it took less than a minute. The reef is just so incredibly beautiful and we were lucky enough to have the weather on our side on the day. The boat had air conditioning and showers. Sunscreen, stinger suits, life jackets and pool noodles were provided in addition to snorkelling equipment, they even provided me with a prescription mask (+2) - you need to ask. The reef talk was also very interesting. I'm so pleased that we decided to do this reef cruise.

The Calypso staff were super enthusiastic and passionate about the reef and showing off the reef to guests! The experience was smooth from start to finish and appropriate snacks/food were provided along with water, and staff directed guests every step of the way. The boat was not overcrowded so there was space to relax and enjoy the sun and views. Delphine took me on an introduction to diving session and was very patient and helpful in teaching me the basics and ensuring we did a safe and fun dive. Top marks to her! I would say anyone staying in Port Douglas should definitely book this experience! Couldn’t recommend it enough!

Very well ran operation. Staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Felt very safe at all times. The 3 stops were amazing. Not too many people, as the maximum amount is smaller than other companies. Loved it

We had the most perfect day! The crew said that we only get visibility like this 20 days out of the year. The crew were incredibly supportive, efficient and friendly. If ever import Douglas, this is a must due tour.

Great way to view the reef. Nice ship, really helpful staff with good equipment. Food was far better than what was provided on similarly priced trips in other locations. I would strongly recommend.

We are a family of 5 adults and had a fantastic experience with Calypso. We did the full day trip with 3 snorkeling sites. The company was very professional and also flexible - they allowed us to change the date because of the weather conditions. The boat is large, the snorkeling equipment is of a high standard and we were given wetsuits when on board. The food was tasty and frequent with snacks before and after lunch. However it was the crew who really made this day extra special. They were all great and really ensured we got the most out of our day but I have to mention Danni and Renee in particular who were simply fantastic and were so patient and helped me so much when I was quite nervous at the beginning having never snorkelled before. They were so caring and it wasn't long before I was heading out on my own. We all had an unforgettable day and can highly recommend Calypso tours!

It was a fantastic experience snorkeling and introductory dive. It was our first time diving and Ruth taught us and took such great care of us. It was an unforgetable time that we will always treasure. Thank you!

Absolutely recommended! The crew were so attentive and friendly and gave great advice and support. This is a bucket list tick for sure. We snorkeled 3 reefs each offering vast numbers of fish and coral. Food was just what we needed light and easy buffet. Thanks Calypso 😊

Unfortunately, I am not leaving a great review, which is a first for me. The staff were very impersonal and did not connect with the snorkelling customers on the boat. This is my third time to the reef, each time with a different company, and this cruise was disappointing. We felt like cattle being herded from one reef site to the next. Tim was a friendly staff member, but unless you were diving, you weren't bothered with. It was just indifference to the customers. The captain who drove the boat was quite gruff when he did speak to you. I work in tourism myself, and I know the importance of connecting with your customers and making them feel welcome. Come on staff, you can do better, especially since you asked us to recommend your tour to family and friends, because without costumers you can't do the tours.

We had a great first experience s snorkelling on the reef. My adult children and partners had a great experience. Staff were very nice and helpful.
