Bari Bike Explorer: Hidden Gems & Coastal Wonders in 2 Hrs

Very good tour. Suits all paces and well informed guide. Friendly and efficient. Lots to see in the old town.

Let me start by saying that the staff at Velo Service is very friendly and helpful. Our bikes were in good order. If I were in the market for renting from them, I would not hesitate. The issue is that there are some places well suited to bicycle tours, and others not so much. In my opinion, my wife's, and a couple others on the tour, this is the case with Bari. First, the tour takes you through the "new" Bari which is overrun with cars. Then there was a ride out to the beach area and back which, again, is a road crowded with cars. I'm not sure what the point of that was. Then, the rest of the tour was in the old city. There, you'll spend most of your time dodging pedestrians who pay no heed to anything. Our guide was friendly enough, but there were some logistical issues keeping the group together. It wasn't clear what we were supposed to do if part of the group got caught at a light. She just kept going. Sometimes she was saying something into her clip-on PA, but only the first two or three people in line had any chance of hearing her. So I like the folks, but in this setting, this was not a relaxing ride or an informative experience.

Our guide, Federica, was weak. She seemed uninterested in her role, was not attentive to the guests, and seemed to do just enough to get through the tour. She raced ahead through the streets losing guests without knowing it. She had to leave the group twice to find lost guests because she never looked back or associated with any of the guests. Once at a location she seemed to have little insight beyond the memorized lines for the location. On the bright side the guy who set up our bikes was attentive and cheerful. Bikes worked okay.

Dorathea was a brilliant guide. She was engaging, knowledgeable and friendly. We had a wonderful tour of Bari with a taste of Italy (facacia). We learnt some Italy. Would highly recommend this trip to get to know Bari.

Being half Dutch, I am obligated to do a bike tour and every single city we ever visit on the planet. For this one, I have to complement the quality of the bicycles. Top notch bicycles! The combination of the beach and the coast and the new city and the old town made for a great tour. Our guide, Fabiana (or something close to that) fantastic.

We really enjoyed this tour through the beautiful old town of Bari. Our guide Chiara did a great job, very friendly and knowledgeable. A nice extra was that the bike rental was included until 7:00 PM, giving us the chance to explore more on our own afterwards. Highly recommended!
