Amalfi Coast & Pompeii: Private Guided Breathtaking Journey

We are experienced travelers and always take private tours instead of cruise ship excursions because they are more informative, intimate and less expensive. Gio and Melania exceeded all expectations for providing a personalized tour that accommodated our unique interests and schedule. Gio clearly loves this region of Italy as evidenced by his exuberance and joy in sharing his knowledge of the area. It was pure joy spending time with him for a day. When we return to Napoli, our first call will be to them.

We used Lovely Amalfi 3 times in 4 days and they were outstanding on each excursion! The first was unplanned, but because of a 5 hour delay in our flight from Bari to Naples with only 3 days notice, we reached out to Giovanni who made arrangements to have us picked up and transferred directly to Positano, what a life saver and much easier trip than we would have had with Itali Air! The next day we had already planned a day with one of his drivers for a trip of the Amalfi coast with stops in Rovello and Amalfi city, learning so much history of the areas in relaxing comfort. The last day was a trip with Giovanni himself from Positano to Pompeii for time at the ruins, followed by a wine tour and lunch on Mt. Vesuvius, perfecto, and a drop at the Rome Airport for a flight the next day! Simply the absolute best service anyone could ask for. Getting around on the Amalfi Coast is not easy, but with the right drivers it makes all the difference, thank you again Giovanni and your crew for a wonderful time!!

Our private tour originally was for an airport pickup and transfer to Amalfi with a stop at Pompeii. Days before our trip to Italy, our group of six decided to add a lunch/shopping stop on Positano, and the owners made the quick change for us. It was wonderful!! Our driver, the owner, Joe was more than we could ask for. His expertise and professionalism provided us with a memorable ride through the Amalfi region. With historical references, engaging stories, and yes, even a song as we comfortably rode along, he was the perfect introduction for us in Italy. Don't even think about hiring another company! We booked this tour as we were going to be in Naples as part of one of our cruise stops. Gigi was our guide and he was incredible. Such a great guy very personable and told us a lot about what we were looking at in the history of Pompeii as well as Naples and Amalfi Coast. The communication was great. He was very prompt. We were so comfortable the whole way, including with our three kids (16, 14, 11) who also said they really enjoyed it. The company arranged for us to hire a private tour guide for Pompeii and Nina was our guide there and with over 26 years of experience, it made our experience truly memorable, and one that we will never forget. We are so happy that we found this company and if you have a chance, we would highly recommend that you check them out because you will not regret it.

We spent a wonderful day with Gio and highly recommend this experience. Gio took us to Ravello for our first stunning views of the Amalfi coast line. Then we followed a beautiful drive into the mountains of Tramonti to visit a family run vineyard and winery where we enjoyed a delicious lunch and tasting. Our vineyard host shared about life in this tiny area producing unique, special wines. Then Gio drove us along the spectacular coastal route to Pompeii, all the while sharing stories and history of the area and his family's life in the region. Our guide in Pompeii met us at our car and showed us many of the notable places in the City. She talked of the history and of the archeological work that has taken place there. She was mindful of my mobility challenges and took good care of us in the very hot afternoon. As Gio dropped us back in front of our hotel, we were tired but delighted with this spectacular day. Absolutely AMAZING day with Giovanni — the ultimate tour guide extraordinaire! 🌟 From the moment he pulled up right on time in his sparkling clean, luxury vehicle (seriously, it was spotless — not even a fingerprint!) we knew we were in for something special. Giovanni’s knowledge of the Amalfi Coast, Ravello, all the charming little towns in between, and Pompeii was mind-blowing. He knew every shortcut, every scenic overlook, every perfect spot for a photo — and somehow every local in town! You’d think he was the unofficial mayor of the entire region. His energy was off-the-charts fun — so warm, upbeat, and welcoming, we felt like we were spending the day with an old friend who just happened to be a walking encyclopedia of Southern Italy. Giovanni even arranged a specialist guide for our Pompeii tour so we could really dive into the history (and wow, that guide was fantastic — he clearly only works with the best). And just when we thought the day couldn’t get any better — cue the serenade! After chatting about Italian music, Giovanni casually treated us to a mini concert with his beautiful voice. Yes, he sings too! We were swooning somewhere between Ravello and a cappuccino stop. We always use Lovely Amalfi Tours when in this area. They not only provided our driver, but also our private guide to tour Pompeii. She was excellent! Knowledgeable and was able to relate to my 9 and 12 year old grandchildren as well as the adults in our group. This was my third tour of Pompeii, but this was the best! Our driver was also very good and made our trip from the airport to Pompeii and then to Ravello a fun journey. Highly recommend!!!

We booked the Amalfi Coast and Pompeii tour and both were absolutely amazing! Our English-speaking tour guide, GiGi, was attentive, knowledgeable, and personable. He was also so patient and kind with our three young kids! When we got to Pompeii, Lina gave the most informative, tailored tour of the ruins. She was also so patient with the kids! Both of these individuals were phenomenal! We cannot speak any more highly of them and would recommend them especially for families with little kids. Giovanni, AKA Gio is and was an amazing Guide and Driver. I couldn’t begin to acknowledge the expertise he exhibited today.
