It's a very scenic place, we went out of season so it was quite quiet but our guide had lots of things planned including visits to a mosque and Buddhist temple, a historic Portuguese church and recommendations on where to eat and drink. We also had time for a small boat tour (for a small fee) which was an added optional extra. Rajan was our guide, he was very informative and helpful, especially as the heat was so demanding.

Is it a bit out of the way but very exciting. The monuments and historic value was outstanding. The tour guide was well informed and friendly.

A long time travelling there and back, it is a quaint place though and we enjoyed all the sights plus lunch

I had an amazing time on this tour. Ruben was my tour guide, and I can’t rave enough about how much entertainment he brought to the tour through his balance of humor and genuine knowledge of the history of the area. After walking me around town and giving me an in-depth description of various points of interest, we went for an included lunch at a Peranakan restaurant (food was great), I was given ample time to retrace my steps or explore different parts of the town by myself. Transfer from and back to the hotel was also provided by Ruben, and he was super efficient and timely in that regard.

I've had quite positive experiences with Viator tours in the past, but this was my worst experience for the following reasons: 1. Our guide's unsafe driving on the return trip to Kuala Lumpur included swerving across highway lanes, speeding well above posted limits, and constantly using multiple phones while driving--all of which made me fear for our safety. 2. Our guide seemed un-interested and kept going ahead at his own pace, even as we stopped to take pictures and read info plaques. 3. He kept taking regular smoke breaks (even while walking with us on the tour) and left us in the car with the engine on for a smoke break on the way back at a highway rest stop. 4. When we asked for lunch recommendations in Melaka, he seemed surprised as to why we needed a lunch break after 3 hours in the hot sun. I cannot recommend this tour to others. To top it all off, it was certainly extremely overpriced, and we didn't end up getting a good understanding of Melaka, which has immense historical significance.

Great little place to visit. It was overdone touristy with the Hello Kitty type transportation, but a nice place to look around. Also did a little river excursion which provided a different aspect. Very colourful. Again we did this with a driver, so the day was well planned out.

One of the most memorable trips of 2024 was my two-week journey to Malaysia, and I’m still reminiscing about the experience! While the entire trip was amazing, the standout moment was my visit to Malacca. Malacca is a true gem, brimming with historical significance. Exploring its streets felt like a captivating journey through time. The rich blend of Portuguese, Dutch, and British influences is vividly reflected in its architecture and museums. I was particularly enchanted by historic landmarks like A Famosa Fort and the Stadthuys. Every corner of Malacca seemed to narrate a piece of its fascinating past. For anyone interested in history or eager to explore Malaysia's heritage, Malacca is a must-visit destination. The depth of historical value combined with its charming atmosphere made it an unforgettable highlight of my trip. Highly recommended!

I would not call this trip a tour in any sense - it’s purely a driver who takes you to Malacca in a small car, hands you a map once you’re there and then leaves you to explore for a few hours. I was hoping to at least learn some about Malacca. Our driver barely spoke English or explained anything, just drove us there and back. He filled up on gas with us halfway on the way there and then on the way back had to pull over for 10 minutes by a toll stop since he didn’t have enough money loaded. He made us do a river cruise at the end and took us to the ticket counter but we had to buy our own tickets (lol). He also asked us rudely what took us so long once we got off the boat, but we had to wait 30 minutes to board. Also, this tour company wanted me to take this review down but I’m attempting to resubmit.

A tour of Malacca to learn about its fascinating history is a must-do while in Malaysia. Unfortunately, we were assigned a guide, Zul, who was less invested in introducing us to Malacca and seemingly more concerned about taking us up on our offer that he join us for lunch. As a result, he pretty much cut our tour short. We were not taken to Jonker Street, not introduced to major historical buildings, and we were told to go into the museum on our own time despite that we had plenty of time to visit these places, among others. I regret that we didn’t take a firmer stance and insist we tour Malacca to the extent for which we paid $400. U.S. dollars. And yes, we learned that we were overcharged and ripped off, but that’s a whole other issue. Tour Malacca, but not with Zul.
