This was probably the best walking tour I have ever been on. Our guide Mylie had a gift for summarising complex political history in a way throws light on the current situation. If you want to understand ‘the troubles’ this tour will go a long way towards achieving that aim

I joined a group of friends on the history of terror tour this week - with some reservations having lived through these turbulent times! James was an excellent guide, he is very knowledgeable and was able to explain a complex and emotional history clearly and respectfully, adding just the right touch of appropriate humour with the group. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to learn more about Belfast and its troubled past.

It was fantastic. Best part of our trip. The guide was fantastic, I was in awe of her knowledge and the way she delivered it so dramatically. Not too much walking so don’t worry.

Firstly, the reviews say it all. We were led by James in a group of about a dozen people from various parts of the world and I have to say the audio system he used was the best of any I’ve used on any walk anywhere. He started off by introducing himself and his background together with the fact that he and his wife came from both sides of the religious divide in Northern Ireland. The tour itself, on level ground and no steps to worry about, and the stories within were extremely interesting and he was only too happy to answer questions. Most of the stops had seats nearby together with places where you could nip in to get a coffee. It must be difficult to choose which places to stop and talk about but I did think that perhaps we could have included the Europa Hotel which was bombed numerous times throughout the troubles. We shall return to Belfast as three days wasn’t enough to see everything we wanted to see and may go on the history tour although I’m not sure whether it covers the same ground. One final point - James mentioned the peace wall and later that afternoon we went on a black cab tour which really complemented our morning walk and I recommend you do the same.

Our tour guide was an excellent communicator. He had lots of great information, facts and personal stories that made the history of the area come alive. He spoke confidently and seamlessly as we moved around the city.

Amazing tour! Really gave a glimpse into the religious and political struggles of Ireland and how it shaped it’s history.

Anne was our tour guide and she was tremendous! She was extremely knowledgeable about the subject, well spoken and very personable. She was a little girl when the troubles started so she was able to give a first-hand account of growing up during this phenomenally turbulent time. You are truly blessed to have her as were we.

The tour guide, Anne, was knowledgeable, passionate and did a fantastic job providing an overview from an unbiased perspective as well as her own personal experience. I definitely recommend this tour!
