Explore the volcanic islands of Panarea and Stromboli in the UNESCO-listed Aeolian Archipelago, on a day trip from Taormina. After traveling by motorboat to each island (please note that there will be other groups on board of the motorboat), enjoy free time to swim in their crystalline waters or amble around their villages. Cruise around Stromboli to see the island’s volcano at its bombastic best. A crater called Sciara del Fuoco is easily visible from the water, so look out for its frequent jet-like eruptions lighting up the night sky! A penalty will be incurred in case of a no-show. The motorboat is equipped with bar and toilets. It is absolutely forbidden to consume takeaway food and/or drinks on board. Toilets are not accessible near the ports and therefore their use is permitted exclusively during navigation. Smoking is prohibited inside and outside our motor ships (there is an exception at the stern, in the embarkation and disembarkation area, authorized by our on-board staff).

The bus and boat were long but we expected that. Stopping to the two towns ( sort of off-season) was disappointing. They were not as charming as described. The tour was very crowded and almost stampeded onto the boat. My husband had to grab a young child before he fell in the water. I feel the tour guide should have managed the crowd better. The volcano was a little under active so that was disappointing ( but not controllable) The scenery on the boat ride was beautiful though. I would suggest 2 tour guides for that large a group. Also, shorten to a sunset cruise by Stromboli in the off season

Very nice trip. A good guide who could speak both English and German well. Notice that the trip starts with a one-hour bus ride to Milazzo. Then you depart from there on a boat to the islands. Amazing to see the Stromboli volcano at night. Well worth the trip!

It was a great experience. Franco was a good tour guide. From taormina it was one and half hour bus ride to the port on the other side of Messina Then boarded the big motorboat. First stop was Panarea island. Walked around and had lunch. Two hours then got back on the boat to stromboli had three hours to walk around some people went swimming. Then got on the boat and went around stromboli to see the show. The volcano burbed up and for a few seconds could see the red lava but not a big show. Enjoyed the day. Would recommend it

Positives Air conditioned bus(approx 2 hours from Taormina to the port) The guide was pleasant and multi-lingual The islands we visited were stunningly beautiful and seeing the sunset and volcanoes at night was a wonderful experience. Negatives The boat was crammed with people, quite uncomfortable and really difficult to find a seat. I would not recommend doing a trip of this length in such an over crowded and uncomfortable boat.

Lovely long day out . Our guide was amazing… Alexandra… funny, informative and kind. Sadly Stromboli wasn’t great on our day and boat left just before it seemed to be erupting.

An excellent tour and our guide was great… very knowledgeable, helpful and informative. The coach trip to the port takes about an hour and then the boat to the islands another hour. Plenty of time to visit both islands for a minimum of 2 hours on each. Got to see Stromboli erupting after dark and a fabulous sunset. Got back to Taormina at 11.30pm. A long day but well worth it and Alex, our guide made it all the more enjoyable.

Wonderful day - it’s a very long day - around 14 hours so be prepared . The black sand beach at Stromboli was fantastic.

We did this trip last week. We got picked up from the bus terminal in Taormina on time and were taken to Mazzaro where we got on the boat. Food and drink on the boat was reasonably priced. People had taken on their own food and drink and nothing was said. Forst stop was the lovely island of Panarea where we spent 2 hours. This was plenty time to have a wander about and a drink. Then it was back on the boat and onto Stromboli. I must admit the village on the island isn't up to much. It's very run down and there is nothing to there except have food and drink. We ate in the hotel near the harbour (sorry I cant remember its name) and the food was nice and priced okay. Then it was back on the boat round to the other side of Stromboli to watch the eruptions. We saw 5 in all but these were small and spaced out over about an hour. Still was great to see though. Then it was the long boat journey back to the bus and then the long bus journey back to Taormina.

Great tour, visited both Stromboli and Panarea, with more than enough time to see both islands and enjoy the amazing lava show by the Stromboli volcano. It is a long day but definitely worth it.
