This trip is a very good complement to the famous Sipán route, but in itself it is a very good experience. Archeology, history, nature, architecture and very good food in one trip. The most interesting museum with the richest tombs, the valley of the pyramids with a forest that hides them, where we can visit the interior of one of them - the only one open to the public - and the most photogenic city we have, with a stop to have lunch in a beautiful 19th century house.

Outstanding excursion! We started our adventure with a trip to pyramids in Tucume. It was worth the 1hr ride through rural terrain, as the 15min walk to the excavated site from the parking lot was full of native wildlife (many different breeds of colorful birds, foxes, lizards, owls, etc). The excavated pyramid showed remnants of ornate decorations, a kitchen, living quarters, a hitching post (for llamas I assume), and other spots of interest. There is also a valley overview area, which I recommend visiting (it was optional for us). A sprawling view of the valley shows many additional pyramids, most of which are still not excavated. The next stop on our journey was a visit to the Royal Tombs of Sipan museum. This museum contains relics that have been recovered from the pyramids in Tecume, along with other local locations in the area. There are so many different armor sets, lots of jewelry, pottery, and the tomb of the king itself which is magnificent. It has been completely excavated, showing how the king and his family are arranged within the tomb, long with the guards and other objects that go with the king to his afterlife. We spent about 2hrs in there, and it was worth every second. Lastly, we visited Lambayeque, the previous capitol of the region. We visited the town's cathedral, which is a site to behold. I don't recall the exact details, but outside of the cathedral was the remnants of three other churches...I think one was for the local town leaders and higher-ups, one for middle class folk, and one for the less fortunate. All of the older three have a story of their own, as they were not built as the same time. Additionally, there is a story regarding the local 'statue of liberty', which was erected and tied to a neat story about the declaration of independence from Spain. My wife and I went on three excursions during our visit to Chiclayo...this was our favorite by far. Highly recommended.

We did two trips with RUNA Turismo. We had the pleasure of having Julio as our guide and Elmer as the driver both days. Professional and pleasant. Julio is well educated and speaks fluent English. He explained well what we saw, and took the time to allow us to discover the details as well as connecting the big picture. Also, he is a good bird-watcher, and we got the opportunity to experience the flying wildlife as well. Lot's of photo-opportunities. The tours are a good balance of archeological sites, museums and nature. Could not have found a better tour provider in Chiclayo!

The guide and driver were incredible. I have issue with the tour agency. We booked 2 separate tours with them for Friday and Saturday. Early Friday morning we were told there were not enough people for the tour unless we were willing to pay $23 more for a private tour. We agreed since our options were limited. ASI said, the guide spoke good English and was very informative. We arranged for pickup the following morning. Later that day we were asked for the tour office if we had paid the guide the additional money. I said no because no one instructed us to do so. She asked us to paid the guide the next day. No problem. At 9 pm I received a text saying there were not enough people for today’s tour but they were willing to go out for an additional $23. I declined and asked for a refund, which they promptly gave me. This morning I received an early text telling me they would come by my Airbnb for the remaking $ at 9. At 9:20 someone arrived and texted me she was waiting downstairs and that I needed to have exact change. We have been in Peru for 5 weeks and have booked multiple tours . Tour agencies provide a service. I would not book with this agency again.

This is a great tour. The guide is extremely knowledgeable and very personable. There aren’t many English tours and this is one you should take. The Sican Museum and Tucume Pyramids are amazing. There is also a little nature walk to look for animals. The tour ends with him sharing the history and a few sights in Lambayeque.

This tour is one of the best in Peru! The guide, Julio, is knowledgeable, friendly, flexible and speaks excellent English. I learned a lot through this tour. It's hard to find the English tour with this price in northern Peru that is not popular for international travellers like southern peru. I high recommend to visit Chiclayo and join the tour!

Yesterday we had an amazing and very informative day with our Guide Julio. Julio was an excellent and very knowledgeable guide. We learned a lot about the Sican Culture. I especially liked the museum, the walk to the pyramids and bird watching. Their agency even organized our next trip to Trujillo and a tour to Chan Chan. I absolutely recommend Julio. Thanks for the wonderful day

Our tailor made trip in North Perú came to an end: an extremely interesting area with vibrant cities and amazing archeological sites/museums. Julio, our guide in the sites/museums, couldn’t be better. He was a well educated, very interesting and funny guy, answering to all of our questions. He was always carrying his camera with him in order to capture bird and wildlife closeups, which he shared with us. We saw even the oldest paintings of Perú in the pyramid of Ventarrón! Thank you! We will come back for new adventures!

We went with guide Johan on Tucume, Sican museum, lord of Sipan tomb tour. Runa Turismo owneris very professional and quick in response. We were searching for tours to Tucume pyramids and Lord of Sipan tomb on the same day, no other tour operator was willing to suit our needs or willing confirm the tour until about the day of the tour. Only Runa was able to confirm right away and be flexible to our interested sites. Guide Johan is extremely knowledgeable, he was able to tell us stories and explain every single item inside the museums, and connect the items and stories to the archeology sites to give us the whole picture of ancient peru history. He only only knows the trivias but understand deep down the material used and chemicals in the pigments of the objects, then give us his own interpretation and thesis on each objects in the museum. We were definately wowed by his presentaion and booked another day with him. Second day he showed us Ventarron which is a site from 4000 years ago. It's definately a hidden gem and not many tour operators even know the place. We went on visiting Sipan site and then Bruning museum. We very much enjoyed the tour. Highly recommended to go visit archeology sites and museums with Johan if you would like go a deep dive into the ancient peru history.
