In the center of a city with clusters of high rises, is a lovely colonial center dating back to the 16th Century with the largest number of gold leaf baroque churches in Brazil. It is also a center of African culture, with music played everywhere Nearby is the oldest fortress and lighthouse of the Americas and not too far away are wonderful sandy beaches on the edges of an Atlantic rain forest.

We had a fantastic day tour of Salvador provided by Joel. Joel was a terrific guide, he was very passionate, knowledgeable, and funny. He was also a great driver. He showed us all the essentials of Salvador in one day and really explained the history very well. We had a great lunch at a local restaurant he recommended. Overall we were very happy with our day tour and would highly recommend a tour with Joel when visiting Salvador.

Our guide Marcos Wilson was very informative, extremely knowledgable and a very nice person. We were bowled over by interesting facts that Marcos gave us in each area of our trip. He paid great attention to detail with regard to our pretences & where we would like to eat. Thank you Marcos for introducing us to your lovely city & giving us one of the most interesting guided tours experienced in our many travels.

We had a great guide but the weather was terrible, poured with rain, underground flooded. The city was beautiful but difficult to enjoy. Our lovely guide was very knowledgable.

It was my first trip to Salvador and the day tour with Dirk was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, shared a lot of historical facts with us the minute we boarded his car! Highly recommended.

This full day tour (7-8 hours) is a combination of historic and panoramic tours... We organized a small (10 people) group from our cruise ship during our port visit in March this year. The day tour was expertly co-ordinated by Bahia Metisse and expertly run by our tour guide Nicholas. We spent first couple of hours exploring the Pelourinho, by foot, directly from the port and then boarded our van-car to see the rest of the city... including Itapagipe peninsula (lower city): Ribeira area, the famous Bonfim church and its brazilian ribbons, the Monte Serrat fort and Boa viagem offering a magnificent view on Salvador. We also passed by the Barra lighthouse and the Tororo lake with its huge sculptures of the Orixas.... (spirits of the afro Brazilian religion, the Candomblé). We had a nice lunch in small typical restaurant with local food. The final stop was a visit the fantastic Sao Joaquim market. Well recommended by all in our group and reasonably priced.

We were on a cruise and the guide was right at the exit of the port at the time we agreed... Tour well organized, and adapted for our preferences. Guide with a gentle personality and with a good sense of humor. We appreciated the nice brand new car for transportation.A very nice day altogether !

Excellent tour with a guide who knows the city and the history of Brazil perfectly. Our guide adapted perfectly to our wishes. Very interesting visit to several districts of Salvador. We explored by minibus and on foot. Our guide and driver were charming and at our disposal. We really appreciated our guide's comments and suggestions.

Cristina de Bahia Métisse organized a very nice guided day for us in Salvador de Bahia. History, museums, churches (including the famous Sao Francisco church), visits to local artists and a sunset on the beach to end in style. Cristina shared her immense knowledge with enthusiasm, humor and attention. A very beautiful day of our vacation for sure. Of course, I don’t forget the culinary discoveries. The whole family has found something to enjoy here. Thank you Cristina we will keep beautiful memories of this day and return to Paris with regret.

Excellent experience! There were 4 of us, we visited Salvador both by taking the classic paths, but also by going to a fishing community with our guide. We had booked 2 accompanied days in Salvador, and 3 in the Chapada Diamantina park, which the agency also organizes. You have to take a bus (6 hours drive), to find yourself in a charming little town, and go to natural sites that you cannot forget. We recommend Bahia METISSE for the entire organization, without fail.
