We had a very nice morning on our mythology tour. Our guide was a mythology major and she was informative as to what we were looking at with all of the ruins around the city. A very good tour.

This was a fantastic tour with an excellent guide. I would highly recommend it for anybody who is interested in Greek mythology and to explore the Acropolis with an excellent guide

Wow! Absolutely loved our tour! Easy to find, they gave us a map at the start which was nice to be able to see the layout. Our guide also had an iPad and was able to show pictures to show descriptions and images of how things might have looked. He even showed us an app called Chronos that had a map he would show us where we where and as he went further into it it would show a 3D visual of what the structures would look like as if we were standing there in the space. I absolutely loved it! I mentioned in passing that I worked in surgery and surprisingly he made it a point to show us the Atheneans old version of a clinic building and showed us a picture of the old medical equipment that they excavated and is now in the museum. The group was small (about 11 of us) and he would make a point to stop in shady spots to tell us the Greek Myths and connect these story's to what we were seeing. My husband and I had a great time!!

To be clear, our tour guide was absolutely excellent. So knowledgeable and friendly and engaging. This is not a review of her, but of Alternative Athens as a company. I contacted them ahead of our visit for advice on which tour to book. My youngest is notoriously tricky on tours of old stones - he said Pompeii was the most boring thing ever. When we went to Rome, i did loads of research and found a brilliant tour guide, who brought the colosseum and Vatican to life for my kids (Marta Correale - just amazing). Knowing this, I asked Alternative Athens which tour would be best for our needs. They recommended a 4 hour mythology tour of the Acropolis and ancient agora. I thought: 4 hours, wow really? They must be great with kids. In the end, I think they just wanted as much money as possible. It was an endurance test for my youngest and he failed. He was utterly miserable. It is no reflection whatsoever on our tour guide - I loved it, when I was able to concentrate over his complaining. I felt bad for our tour guide too - the tour was inappropriate for him, and I felt embarrassed that she had to see his miserable face for 4 hours. Even my oldest, who is super laid back, had absolutely had it by the end of the 2nd hour. It costs a LOT of money. Unless your kids are passionate about history and mythology, do not book this tour with kids. Perfect for adults.

Great guide. Loved the myth stories. The ruins are amazing. FYI, lots of uphill walking at a brisk pace but definitely worth it.

Moderate amount of walking and stairs to climb over Uneven surfaces. Wear good walking shoes, water and hat is a must. Our tour guide Michael was fantastic. Easy to understand, Michael had great stories intertwining Greek Mythology and early Greek life. Michael made the climb in small stages, stopping frequently to talk about points of interest. Seeing The Parthenon and other ruins made the climb worthwhile!! Amazing architecture and unbelievable beauty. You will not be disappointed.

Michael was a great tour guide. His stories were fun and he kept us moving at a pace that ensured we stayed together and in front!
