1. Fitzroy Island is a small, breathtakingly beautiful island located off the coast of Cairns in the Tropical North of Australia. It’s located within the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and is surrounded by crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches, and lush tropical rainforest. The island is home to several walking trails, including the challenging Secret Garden track that takes you through stunning rainforest and hidden waterfalls. Visitors can also take part in a range of water activities, including snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding, to discover the island’s thriving coral reefs and rich marine life, including turtles and colorful fish.

3. Tickets can be purchased on the day at the Fitzroy Island Visitor Centre or online in advance. The cost for a day visit starts at $89 for adults and $49 for children (4-12 years old) and includes a return ferry transfer from Cairns, snorkel gear hire, and use of the ocean trampoline and paddleboards. Additional activities, such as scuba diving and glass-bottom boat tours, can be arranged at an extra cost. The ferry departs Cairns at 8:30 am, and the return trip departs the island at 4:30 pm.
