Darko, thank you for this amazing time and history travel! Very knowledgable guide, explaining everything and with great sense of humour! Highly recommended! Dio and Elena

Diana was an enthusiastic guide who answered all our questions. Without a history museum or memorial in town, this is the best way to learn how Croatia has been shaped by war and politics over the last century. Pics of Tito and Sophia Loren were among the highlights!

This is a serious scholarly tour of instruction in modern Croatian and Balkan history, from World War I through the Croatian war of national liberation 1990-1995. It is not for the casual tourist, but the intellectually serious visitor will learn the famous names, political parties, and tragedies of Croatia and its neighbors in our time.

This is an enthusiastic tour which will teach you, if you didn’t already know, the political history of Croatia from the early 20th century, including the communist period (which only makes up a part of the tour’s focus, despite the title). Being Zagreb, there’s not actually much in the way of interesting sights. The WWII era tunnels are freely accessible to the public though you will get context here. The tour lasts a long-feeling 2.5 hours with the finale being a 20 minute video on Croatia’s war of independence in the 1990s.

Ivana was such an amazing tour guide!!! The tour was so informative and interactive - we learned so much and cannot recommend this enough. It lasted about 2.5 hours and well worth the cost. By far the best walking tour we have ever done!

Great tour. Very informative and felt very open about croatian dark history. I would definitely recommend those interested in the history of post Austro Hungarian empire Croatia.

It was a really great experience and the tour guide Diana was phenomenal. She gave a very balanced and informative presentation surrounding the communism and homeland war period in Croatia. She was very inviting and approachable and was always able to answer questions. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting Zagreb to be part of her tour.

Knowledgeable guide with facts as well as personal experience. Presented a balanced view of the situation. Repeated information just enough for me to retain the highlights.

This tour took place on Day 19 of our 21 days in Croatia. As we traveled the country, we visited museums, took tours, talked to locals, and read a lot of signs and other materials on the region's history/culture. This tour helped pull it all together. Darko knew his stuff and included some first person experiences from family members. Def recommend!
