1. Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden, commonly known as the Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, is located in Pamplemousses, near Port Louis, Mauritius. It is the oldest botanical garden in the Southern Hemisphere, established over 300 years ago in 1770.
The garden spans over 37 hectares and is home to a wide variety of plants, including giant water lilies, over 80 varieties of palms, spices, medicinal plants, and exotic flowers. One of the highlights of the garden is the Talipot palm, which is known for its impressive and rare bloom that only occurs once in its lifetime.
The garden also houses the Château Mon Plaisir, a colonial-style mansion that was once a residence of the French governor and served as a hunting lodge for French colonists.
