Itinerary
Day 1

Departure Day
Depart the USA on your overnight flight to Reykjavik, Iceland.

Day 2 BD
Reykjavik/Immediate room occupancy
Upon your early morning arrival, transfer to the Radisson SAS 1919 Hotel in the center of town and near the shopping street Laugavergur. Rooms are booked from the prior night to insure immediate occupancy. Have breakfast if you wish, with the remainder of the morning at leisure to rest. This afternoon, explore Reykjavik to see the old town area, the Parliament and the Cathedral. Visit the outdoor folk museum to see how Christmas was celebrated in earlier times and the Pjodmenningarhus (Culture House), which houses old manuscripts of Icelandic life. RADISSON SAS 1919 HOTEL

Day 3 BLD
Reykjavik/Jeep excursion/Golden Circle
Spend the day sightseeing by 4-wheel drive “super jeeps.” See the classic “Golden Circle” attractions to experience the dramatic, raw beauty of winter in Iceland. Visit Thinguellir National Park, site of the world’s oldest Parliament, where Viking settlers gathered for legislative sessions. Continue to Lyngdalsheidi Heath, where snow scooters await if you would like an exciting snow and wilderness ride near Iceland’s glaciers. At the geyser thermal area, see the world’s most active geyser, Strokkur, which spouts superheated water and steam every 5 to 7 minutes. View Gullfoss Waterfall, considered Iceland’s most beautiful, as it double-falls into a deep gorge, and make a brief stop at Kerid to see a beautiful water-filled, extinct volcanic crater. At the fishing village of Stokkseyri, enjoy dinner at cozy Via Fjorubordid (By the Seaside), where local lobster is the specialty. RADISSON SAS 1919 HOTEL

Day 4 BD
Viking Pony Tundra Trek/New Year’s Eve Celebration
At the late-morning sunrise, take a Viking pony trek through the Icelandic countryside if you wish. The strong, friendly ponies came to Iceland with the Vikings about 900A.D. Then, visit a wool factory shop to look for Icelandic apparel. For a truly unique New Year’s Eve, enjoy the evening at the internationally-recognized Perlan, a revolving restaurant built on a hilltop for 360-degree views of Reykjavik and its surrounding hills and woodland. Your vantage point offers exceptional views of the extraordinary fireworks, which last for hours and fill the horizon over Reykjavik. All citizens of the city participate in a fireworks fund, resulting in this most spectacular, needs-to-be-seen-to-be-believed display. RADISSON SAS 1919 HOTEL

Day 5 BD
Reykjavik/Blue Lagoon

Farsælt Komandi Ár! The morning is free to sleep late, relax or explore on your own. This afternoon, enjoy a relaxing soak or a soothing swim in the Blue Lagoon, a geothermal spa with naturally heated (100 degree) mineral water. A short head and shoulder massage is included. Your farewell dinner is out on the town this evening. RADISSON SAS 1919 HOTEL
