A fun half day afternoon tour around some of the key sights in Battambang and the surrounding countryside.
You will be picked up in Battambang around 1pm, then we'll start with a short tuk-tuk tour of the city, passing major historical landmarks. Next, we'll head out into the Battambang countryside for a unique ride on the original old Bamboo train, organised by local people (*see below for bamboo train ticket cost - see Excluded).
Continuing through the countryside, we'll stop at a fruit farm, visit Battambang's famous suspension bridge (great photo opportunity), visit a local mushroom farm and learn how local people grow mushrooms in the village. Then we'll drive along roads through rice fields to visit a secret bat cave and enjoy a beautiful sunset (more great photo opportunities), before returning to Battambang city.

A good introduction to the local area with relevant history. Filled a full afternoon into the evening. We were intrigued before arriving in Battambang about the Bamboo Train and Bat Cave and both were a unique experience. Be prepared to be dusty. Have some spare cash for extra fees or unintended shopping. Mr Fie was our Tuk Tuk driver/guide who made our experience very special. He shared some personal experiences with us that were very emotional but he also gave us some joy (and a few local desserts to try)

This was my favourite activity during my time in Cambodia. Kim is a lovely person and a fantastic guide. The day began with a ride on the bamboo train. We continued through the countryside, stopping when there was something interesting to see. Kim explained the history of the country well and answered any questions. We crossed the suspended bridge on foot, and stopped for roadside food upon request. Kim provided a thoughtful and personal explanation of the killing caves and his family’s history. Finally, we were able to witness the bats exiting the cave for the evening. Kim and his brother David are genuine, fantastic people, and it was my pleasure to meet them both. Please don’t hesitate to book this tour!

When I arrived in Battambang, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The city felt rough, the heat was intense, and after the charm of Siem Reap, I was a bit hesitant. Then I met Kim—kind, funny, and full of local knowledge—who offered me a private tuk tuk tour. It turned out to be one of the best decisions of my entire trip. We spent four amazing hours exploring the countryside. Kim took me to Wat Banan, where we climbed 365 steps to an 11th-century temple with incredible views. We crossed a hanging bridge, visited a mushroom and chilli farm, tasted fresh lotus fruit, and even accidentally woke up a tree full of fruit bats! Kim made sure every stop was authentic, relaxed, and filled with insight. He shared stories about the area, helped me connect with locals, and made me feel completely safe and welcome the entire time. The sunset bat show was the perfect end to the day—and every single person we passed along the way smiled and waved, a reflection of just how respected and loved Kim is in his community. If you’re heading to Battambang, do yourself a favour—book a tour with Kim. You won’t regret it.

Kim was such an amazing and knowledgeable guide on this fantastic tour. We were picked up from where we had lunch instead of our hostel which we were able to communicate with Kim just before pickup, which was really helpful. We then started the tour briefly in the city before heading into the countryside, taking the bamboo train, going over the suspension bridge and stopping off to look at some local farms and chat to some friendly locals. We then headed to the killing caves and the bat caves where Kim told us about the tragic history of his country. It was really moving, and we felt we gained a personal insight into Cambodia’s history. We saw the famous bat cave and then went a little further to see a second secret cave where we were the only people there. Kim was such a great guide, spoke perfect English, and accommodated all our needs including providing ice cold water, insect repellent and even tiger balm for our bites. Overall couldn’t recommend this tour enough!

Met Kim at the bus station and he was incredibly friendly. We only had around 3 hours in Battambang so he designed a short tour for us, visiting Chilli & Mushroom farms, a few landmarks and also a spot where 100+ fruit bats live. After this we went to the bat cave where he showed us 2 main viewpoints. He was a great guide and we all had a brilliant time!

Fantastic afternoon tour with Kim. His English is very good and he took time to explain all sorts of things during the afternoon. Highlight was definitely the bamboo train - complete with the train from Phnom Penh to get out of the way of and also the goods train. The walk to the top of the mountain is fine, if a little steep in places and the bats do eventually come out of the bat cave after sunset. All in all a brilliant afternoon. Kim is a very very safe driver, he doesn’t like to go too fast- his priority is safety at all times. Highly recommended for a great trip during a stay in Battambang.
