We did a self guided hike and opted for to take the unpaved road, which is the long way around compared to the paved road. There are more view points but it took us 3 long hours. Heading up was easy and at one point, we almost headed back because the sign said no hikers but as we walked a bit more, it says we can continue. The view was stunning but coming down was a bit slippery due to the gravel. If you found it hard, I would recommend walking on your side, activate your mula bandha, and take angled steps. There were 6 hanging bridges we have to cross and the walk was wobbly especially when more people joined you in the back. The hanging bridges were so high above the rainforest. We didn’t see any animals except for a lizard and a monkey when other tourists with cameras pointed them out. We also heard howler monkeys. It rained as we are almost done with the hike, it was a nice experience to be in a rainforest with rain pouring. There are bathrooms when we exited and they were clean and well maintained. The parking was free and the entrance fee was $39.5 per person. The internet was very bad. They have free WiFi but only around the reception area. They also have lockers by the bathrooms, and they have you signed your life away after paying for your entrance fee. They don’t have a paper map so you have to take a picture of the map before heading off. 4.5 stars rounded to 5.

Price seems a bit high- variable depending on the time of day you go. The dirt walking path (off the main path) seems to offer better views of the volcano.

A great place to hike with a lot of bridges and some hiking. We didn’t do the guided tour but still were able to see a few animals ourselves.

Self guided tour was sufficient You can take a guide but I don’t think we missed much. You could do short or longer tours so you could customize your trip.

Beautiful views with some animal sightings and the excitement of crossing 6 hanging bridges. We opted to do the self-guided walk, which was a good fit for our family as our teens were not as interested in the many stops on the guided tour. Even with the self-guided walk, we learned so much and enjoyed the walk.

This place was great! Lots to see and beautiful views from the bridges. You could spend as much or as little time as you want here.

Such a great experience! Bridges were amazing...I am afraid of heights but I loved it. The foliage is breath taking and so is the Volcano. Highly recommend the happy hour drinks after. Just a great experience!

I was so impressed by the way the hanging gardens were designed. They're fully paved in a way that blends with the environment. The foliage is a wonder and can really be appreciated as you walk over the numerous hanging bridges.

This was a tiny bit of a let-down for us, but that may be because we'd already walked through a lot of jungle by the time we got to this. The bridges were cool, but not amazing. The entry fee is a bit steep just to walk around the park, but that's Costa Rica for you. I think these would've been cooler had we actually had mist and clouds - it was a pretty clear day when we went. I guess it's worth doing if you're in La Fortuna, but just know it's not amazing.
