Guided Tour of Cheong Fatt Tze's Blue Mansion in George Town

IZHAM He was very kind. He teach me i didn't know how to make a reservation. It was a lovely building and it was great. It's great to see historic buildings! IZHAMさん、とても親切な方でした。予約の仕方が分からなかったのですが、丁寧に教えてくれました。建物も素敵で、本当に素晴らしかったです。歴史的な建物を見るのは素晴らしいですね！

Prior booking is required as only 20 persons are allowed each session. Our guide Sally gave an in depth and interesting presentation of the place from Feng Shui to the family history of the owners. It is a short history introduction of people and Penang. Worth the visit to see one of the most beautiful mansions in the world. Hope that more could be done to restore it to its glorious past. A work in progress no doubt.

First tip: book your visit in advance. We didn’t make a reservation but were lucky enough to still get in and join a guided tour of the Blue Mansion. In my opinion, taking the guided tour is the best way to experience the Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion. Built at the end of the 19th century by the wealthy merchant Cheong Fatt Tze, the mansion has 38 rooms and once housed most of his seven wives. The interior is beautifully preserved, and our guide was very helpful in explaining the fascinating history behind the house and its architecture. Interestingly, the mansion also operates as a boutique hotel — so yes, you can actually stay there!
