This tour combines history, legend, and breathtaking natural landscapes. 1. Begin with a visit to the Curtea de Argeș Monastery, an architectural gem and spiritual heart of Romania. Dating back to the 16th century, this ornate structure is famous for its stunning Byzantine and Renaissance influences. The monastery is also the final resting place of Romanian royalty, adding to its aura of reverence and mystery. 2. Next, journey to the historic Poenari Fortress, once a strategic stronghold of Vlad the Impaler, the inspiration for Dracula. Perched on a cliff overlooking the Argeș Valley. Here, you’ll not only step back in time but also enjoy one of the most striking views of the Carpathians. 3. Conclude your adventure with a visit to Vidraru Dam, one of Romania's engineering marvels. This towering structure, built in the 1960s, holds back the glistening waters of Lake Vidraru and offers a panoramic view of the Făgăraș Mountains.

The views were amazing! We took so many photos of Poenari Fortress. For someone who loves history it is the best choice. You see where the rulers of Romania are resting and also you see amazing dam. Very nice guide and really deserves congratulations.

This tour wasn’t part of our original plan, but with almost everything closed in Bucharest for Easter, we decided to book it last minute – and it turned out to be a fantastic choice. The nature was absolutely stunning, and spotting the bears was an unforgettable experience! Even though the Poenari Fortress was closed, our guide adjusted the route, taking us into the mountains instead, where we enjoyed some beautiful views. It felt like a real adventure, and we came back with amazing photos and memories.

We had an amazing day with our very knowledgeable and funny guide, Radu, travelling on the Transfagarason Road. Radu provided some information the evening before pick up which allowed us to see what the day ahead was going to look like. Radu picked us up right outside our hotel on schedule. Radu was welcoming, friendly and extremely knowledgeable and encouraged us to ask questions at any point. Radu allowed us to choose where we stopped to take photos but also gave us his best places to get great photos. We didn’t get to see any bears as they are now hibernating but Radu shared some insights to the bears and their way of life. We had the best day, but Radu made it extra special by taking us to a beautiful monastery where we also saw the Orthodox priest who welcomed us warmly and gave us a blessing. We are not religious but this gorgeous monastery allowed us to reflect and be grateful. The day was full of memories and Radu really went over and above for us, he even booked a reservation for the Palace of Parliament tour which online was sold out, but thanks to Radu, he knew Someone and managed to get us in on the English tour. What an amazing tour guide Radu is, we really lucked out. Thank you Radu.

I really enjoyed this trip to the mountains. We saw seventeen, I repeat, seventeen European brown bears in one day!

I changed my mind 3 times before I really decided on this trip. I wanted a trip with only my husband and I so we could stop and see the bears and the road and not keep strictly to schedule as we would have if we went with a group. I have to say that it was an excellent decision. Alain picked us up 50 meters from our pedestrian street hotel and he was exactly on time. His car was immaculate and after introducing himself, off we went. It is quite a long drive to the mountains from Bucharest and he told us the fascinating and complex history of the areas that we drove through. He showed us Roma villas and beautiful scenery among other things. We drove straight up the road and stopped along the way to see a few bears. He said it was better to stop on the way back for the views and he was correct. They were outstanding. We saw bears galore, and twisting mountain roads, glacier lakes, fireweed...looks much like Alaska in areas, and had a great lunch in a restaurant at the top of the mountain. We got back into Bucharest just a bit after 8 PM. It was a long day, but a wonderful one and I highly recommend Alain.

This was an amazing tour, and our guide, Bogdan, was the very best! He went out of his way to provide snacks, drinks, stopped for getting us fresh fruit at a local roadside stand, and even made a few extra stops along the way to show us some amazing landmarks rich in Romanian history. Our drive along the Transfagarasan Hwy was everything we expected and more! The drive was beautiful and we saw more than 15 wild brown bears, including mothers with cubs and large male bears. The views from the top of the Highway were spectacular, and we were fortunate to have snow-covered Carpathian views, yet clear roads. Would definitely recommend this tour and excellent tour guide, Bogdan!

Views were amazing and our tour guide Lonela was amazing! Would definitely recommend for all ages. Only bad part is the amount of time spent traveling but the tour guide and the people made it better. Saw lots of bears and wonderful views.

I recently embarked on a tour of Romania's Transfagarasan road, known as "the most beautiful road in the world," and it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The stunning landscapes and winding Carpathian Mountains left me in awe. Our guide, Bogdan, was exceptional, with his deep knowledge, captivating storytelling, and genuine passion for Romania. Highly recommended for exploring Romania's natural wonders.
