Worth every penny! Miguel and Reuben were everything you can hope for. On time, clean travel accommodations, so knowledgeable and tailored the trip to our preferences! They got us across the Honduras border in a whopping 15 min. Seriously outstanding! Copa Ruins were bigger than I anticipated, well preserved and a must see. I was debating between Tikal and Copa and I am so glad we went with Copa. Less square mileage but more details in tact. Yes, we added the tunnels on our expense (15qz) and that was well worth it. Finished with a late lunch in the most charming town of Copa. If I could do it over again I would stay the night. Spectacular!

Great day trip to Copan ruins. Ruben, our guide, was friendly, but we were disappointed he was not of assistance at the boarder crossing. We were supposed to stamp out of Guatemala and go to the next window, Honduras, but this was not communicated. We entered Honduras and returned in the evening to find out that since we never stamped into Honduras, they could not stamp us out. We were disappointed that we did not get a Honduras passport stamp. As we were driving away we realized we needed another stamp to enter Guatemala, so we drove back to immigration. This frustration could have been resolved with the guides help. Other than that, lunch was great and the ruins were excellent.

We greatly enjoyed our tour of Copan and especially wanted to sing the praises of our guide and driver. Our guide, Ruben, was such a nice and impressive guy and so well informed on every subject. He had an incredible knowledge of Maya history, taught us a great deal, and answered every question patiently, thoughtfully and thoroughly. Our driver Adelso was also amazing. The traffic was horrible both ways and he negotiated it with great skill and good humor. Both men proved entertaining company for the ten hour drive. We also loved our good-humored and knowledgeable guide at Copan, Juan Carlos, and would definitely recommend his services.

The whole trip was an experience. We were very fortunate to have a highly qualified guide who had actually worked on many Maya archeological digs and was well-acquainted with Maya culture in many places and really knew how things work at the border; the local guide in Copan was also an excellent speaker and gave us invaluable insight into the Mayan numerological system and the layout of the Copan site. The driver was very experienced and knew the route very well. Aside from the historical significance of Copan, with the many stelae and Mayan inscriptions, just walking beneath the gigantic jungle trees amidst the ruins was a dreamlike experience. Copan is a great compliment to the high-rising structures of Tikal. Walking through the ball court in Copan, not far from the stairway of inscriptions of kings gave real insight into the world presented in the Popol Vuh epic of the Maya. An incredible trip with great guides. One suggestion would be to organize the trip so that you stay the night in the lovely town of Copan Ruinas -- where we had a wonderful traditional dinner. The Copan trip is really a very full day as is-- but so well worth it.
