Chorao Island: Goa's Exclusive Wildlife & Mangrove Odyssey

Travellers, you need to trust me on this. Next time you come to Goa, make sure you explore Goa with Soul Travelling. Full stop. Having said that, here’s a little bit about our experience. We had booked the Nature Trail at Chorao Island. The booking process was extremely smooth. They were prompt with their responses and assisted me till 10 PM. There was no intention to sell and no pressure to engage. I absolutely loved that — it felt very organic. The next morning, we were introduced to our friendly local guide, Atul Kulkarni (Hi, Atul bhai!), and he was the star of the show. Really! After meeting, we went on a boat ride along with bird watching. Believe me, that morning boat ride was incredibly peaceful. Throughout the journey, Atul bhai shared all the trivia and stories connected to the places we passed. We loved it. After the boat ride, we went to a temple where Atul bhai unleashed his full potential by telling us the beautifully crafted story of Lord Ganesha. From there, we went for breakfast — a very homely, hand-cooked meal prepared by a mother with lots of love. After that, we visited a small hilltop chapel, and it was a unique one. You need to book Atul bhai to know the story. I’m not telling you here! Our last stop was the mandatory feni tasting, and it was fun, fun, fun. You will also get to learn a lot about history — from the Portuguese invasion to how cashews came to exist in Goa, and so much more. I know I have said a lot about Atul bhai. If I say more, it may sound like flattery, but I will take my chances. I have huge respect and appreciation for people who do their job out of love and passion, and not just for money. I hope the whole team is built with the same spirit. Keep it up. We will be back soon. I won’t talk about pricing here because it doesn’t matter. Everything was worth it.

Had a amazing experience today starting off with the Lunch on a farm and it was a really good as the flavour and ingredients used was different. Followed by a Temple visit with Atul taking us through the Island history and the how things worked back then. Visit to the mangrove is a must and the boat ride was really good with the setting sun and the migratory birds. Post that we snacks and tea at Farmer's residence and finally Feni testing and mocktail making. Overall it a wonderful experience and showcasing Goa in different view. Would recommend this tour and thanks to Atul for being patient and answering queries.

This is one of my MOST favourite experiences by Soul Travelling. The first time was solo and this time I took my fiancé’s and my families and it was simply PERFECT. Atul’s love for his homeland and storytelling was overpouring with every word he said. Simply surreal. The flow of the tour - from the calm boat ride to the breakfast in the fields and the Feni tasting, I had the most wonderful Saturday. I recommend doing it at 7 am to catch the sunrise over the river and meet all the birds out and about for breakfast.

The tour operator co tasted us the night before. You'll need your car/taxi foe the crossing so you can move between the different sites on Chorao Island. A lot of lovely history and sites to be had, along with a nice boat ride showing the mangroves and birds. Followed by a lovely authentic local lunch. Enjoy!

My wife & I had an awesome time with Koonan & the team. Koonan reached out ghe night before and advised us of timings, meeting point and what to expect. All went in order as expected. Everything culminated in a lovely traditional welcome and lunch. Fantastic tour, thank you. 😊

We had an amazing morning trip with Atul. Bird-watching by boat through the mangroves was a truly beautiful experience. We really enjoyed exploring the island and hearing all the stories Atul shared with us. We wrapped up with feni tasting and cocktail making — and we immediately bought all the ingredients to make them ourselves!
