Lovely relaxing trip to Uros Island to get up close to this very unique aspect of the lake. Learned about local culture and customs and got to tour homes and talk to locals. Be sure to bring some extra cash - there are opportunities to partake of local crafts and handiwork and to take a ride on one of the local boats (an must-do).

The Uro Island is too staged and commercialized that pressure the tourist to purchase totally unwanted souvenirs. We visited Lima, Cusco, Pisac, Urubamva, Machu Picchu and Uro Island and all of those places had exactly same souvenirs not so practical or appealing. If those locals just performed and displayed building process of floating island instead of pressuring tourists to purchase unwanted souvenirs. we could much appreciated and willingly offered bigger gratuities.

This tour was exactly as expected. A 3-hr. tour with pickup from our hotel to drop off at the hotel. And a 2-hr. boat ride with an exposure to the life and conditions of the Uros people who live on floating reed islands in Lake Titicaca near Puno. The English guide was very helpful in translating the native language for us. The lady whose island we visited was enthusiastic to show us her way of life. At the end there was a show of their handicrafts and since they were nicely made, we purchased some items. Bring cash for souvenirs and for tips. Overall, a good tour to get out while getting used to the altitude!

Struggling between a three or four star to be honest. On one hand Titicaca and the floating islands is a bucket list thing. At the same time it is extremely touristy practically the entire lake revolves around tourism now. Lots of Airbnb, young people folk dancing, knitting shows, but yes they do very briefly tell you how they actually make the floating islands. The guide himself I thought did his job, delivered the information but the info content I won’t say is super rich The visit covered two islands, the second island seriously may as well not allocate time to it there’s not much to see it’s a place where they drop you off briefly try to get you to buy some food and souvenirs. Nobody push sold me anything along the entire trip so that I still appreciate

Amazing trip to meet the families who live on the islands. Lovely to learn about their history and culture. They welcomed us into their homes for an insight into their daily lives and the guide explained in detail how the small islands, usually big enough for 3 to 4 homes, are constructed and maintained. Overall a great trip and would highly recommend!

We had an excellent time on our tour. We were picked up promptly from our hotel and taken to the boat which was a fast 10 min car ride. Pepe our captain and tour guide was fantastic. He gave us so much information on the Uros islands and the communities that live there. We met a local family and they showed us their way of life. While there were items to buy they were a good price and you weren’t made to feel you should. We paid the extra 20 soles per person to go on the traditional boat. The 9am tour was a perfect start to the day.

Our guide was very informative and introduced the families on the island sharing the presentation. The families welcomed us to watch as they maintained their island with reeds and strengthening the areas where they work. We did the private tour so it was very peaceful and relaxed.

Hugo and crew did an excellent job showing us around Lake Titicaca. He did a wonderful job explaining the history and local customs, we visited with a local Uros family and had a delicious lunch. Highly recommend using this same group for a private tour.

Pepe was our guide and he was really knowledgeable about the area and the history of the floating islands. His English was amazing too. On the way to the islands he explained the history of the lake which was interesting. The first island was a small traditional island with a full demonstration of how the islands are built, maintained and the day to day life of the locals. We were able to see inside the houses and the locals offered to dress us up in their clothing which was cute. They have stalls of souvenirs if you wish to buy and there is no pressure at all which is nice. Second island we visited was the biggest and more for tourists with a cafe etc but still nice to visit. We had a beautiful sunset over the mountains too. Highly recommend this tour as you will not be disappointed.

Uros is unique and a must-visit for any tourists coming to the area. Our tour was well organized. Most of the time spent during this tour was at a small floating village where we got to interact with a charming young couple that lived on the reed platform and raising a family there. Our guide was knowledgeable and quite helpful.
