The beauty of the caves is enhanced by multi-coloured stalactites and stalagmites of various shapes including curtains and limestone pools. Walking through the cave you will enjoy many waterfalls and underground halls. In the afternoon part of the visit you will enjoy the scenic ride to the most charming town on the Slovenian coast – Piran. A walk through its narrow medieval streets wedged between beautiful houses, churches and squares will take you back to the medieval times. Take your time to enjoy the breeze that blows from the sea and to admire the main square named after a famous violinist and composer Giuseppe Tartini. You will certainly enjoy the small-town ideal to wander around for a coffee, cake, gelato or some good fresh seafood. Visit the Unesco heritage listed Škocjan caves, a majestic underground river canyon, and let it take you to world of fantasy. The exceptional volume of the underground canyon is what distinguishes the Škocjan Caves from other caves and places and is easily placed among the most famous underground features in the world. In the afternoon enjoy a scenic ride towards the Slovenian coast. Stop at Socerb castle for breath-taking views of the Slovenian coast and the Gulf of Trieste. Once in Piran you will discover the most romantic and picturesque coastal town. Piran is a tourist highlight of the Slovenian coast, strongly influenced by the old Venetian Republic. The main square is named after Giuseppe Tartini, a famous violinist and a composer who was born in Piran.

The caves are amazing... well worth the trip and the cost. Out guide - Jure - couldn't have been more accommodating. He gave us lots of info about the locations and Slovenia and made the trip brilliant. When we got to Piran it was raining very hard so we all agreed to cut that part a little short, which was a shame but, given the conditions, it was good to have some flexibility.

This tour was wonderful. The caves were great but it should be noted it is an active tour level 3. A long walk to begin, once in the caves another 1.5 hours of walking and many, many stairs. That said very interesting. Our time in Piran was amazing. What a perfect little Adriatic seaside village.

Our host was a superb guide on our visit to the caves and Piran. She is an accomplished professional with deep knowledge of the history and culture of Ljubljana and Piran and possesses excellent communication skills. She constantly checked to ensure that her clients were comfortable, could hear her and knew that they could ask questions whenever they wanted. She also shared some aspects of her own life that showed us what it is like to live in Slovenia today. Brava! Thank you!

Our guide, Jan, was excellent. He had a very good command of English and made sure to convey a lot of Slovenian history and geography to us. The caves themselves were an awesome site. You felt like you were in another world. The tour, however, needs to be clearer on the degree of exertion. As an older person this was not easy. There were a lot of inclines up and down and a lot of stairs. Anybody with medical conditions or heart conditions definitely need to avoid this.

Nina was an excellent guide for this trip. Explaining all the history and so nice to be with. The cave was awesome with a river running through it. Piran in the afternoon was lovely to hang out in, climb the church tower and see the Adriatic sea and eat at the Pavel restaurant.

The caves are wonderful, such a beautiful experience. Our guide was so lovely and warm, made the experience much nicer. Piran is lovely and it's a nice amount of time to wander for shopping or a swim.

Andrei was an absolutely amazing knowledgeable patient and fun guide! Every stop was perfectly timed and was an absolutely perfect way to experience piran, the caves and wonderful Slovenian hospitality!

This really is a more cost-effective way to visit some sites rather than renting a car or getting a taxi. The tour guide will give you commentary as you drive, but does not get off at the places to tell you more. I’m glad I went on the tour, but thought maybe there would be more interaction at some of the sites. Not the tour guides fault, just the way it’s organized. The tour guide did an OK job, was not personable, but kept to the facts.

We had a fantastic day out and thought this was an excellent mixture of activities for the day. The caves were amazing and felt less hectic and touristy than the Postojna caves (which we also enjoyed on a different day). We liked the option to walk back from the cave exit and see some more of the nature around there. We loved the views from Piran wall (and would recommend not skipping them out). Piran was nice and we enjoyed a dip in the sea to cool down on a very hot day. Our guide was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. We learned a lot about the area and would definitely recommend this trip.

The Skocjan Caves were an absolute must-see. My only regret is there wasn't enough time to see the longer route out of the caves - something I will have to do on a return visit. Piran was beautiful and I highly recommend taking your swimming costume and having a swim in the sea - a lovely way to cool down. I went on 2 tours with Slovenian Explorer and their buses are very comfortable and the drivers wear microphones so that you can hear them guide. This wasn't the case in other tour operator's buses, so I really recommend finding tours by Slovenian Explorer. Thank you to guide of the day George!
