Breathtaking Budapest: Express Hop-On Hop-Off Bus Adventure

Always a great way to start any city tour ,, get your bearings and then plan out what you want to see

We tried the bus tour our first day to kill time before we could get into our accommodation and try and get our bearings of the city. Not worth it. The whole thing lasts about an hour and half most of which is spent going in circles due to so many streets being one way. We couldn't get our bearings at all, and often passed the same streets 2 or 3 times. It doesn't even really take you to all the sites - most of the time they'd stop and say hey, such-and-such is kinda near here. The audio guide just wasn't interesting either. The one good spot is it's definitely a good way to take a breather, if you're not up to long periods of walking and the open top makes it pleasantly cool. You can also see some of the attractions from the bus itself. But overall I would say it's not worth it - we paid around £70 for the 24 hour ticket and really felt we'd been had.

This excursion can become a multi-day event if you have the time. We took a one day pass and thoroughly enjoyed the stops we made.

The last Hop on Hop off we did was in Milan. That one started to turn me off these trips because it was mostly just music with a bit of commentary. It would cost virtually nothing more to talk about other things rather than just have music. This tour had lots of commentary. It was a good way to see the city. We also went on the boat tour. It was a nice way to see what is around. It was weird that there was a competing company according to the literature but our ticket let us get on any of the double deckers.

Good way to see the city to identify where to go back and visit. Busses run frequently and better option to buy the 2 day ticket!

The buses were around very regularly and the staff on the buses were very friendly and helpful, lots of staff around Budapest selling the hip and off bus and there knowledge is amazing

Top of the bus was very low, everyone banged their heads on the metal railing (should at least be padded)

Great way of getting around and seeing the sights in Budapest as there is a lot of ground to cover on foot

We took a boat cruise and the 48-hour hop-on, hop-off tour, which was highly recommended in Budapest. To explore Budapest, we stopped frequently. Fantastic experience!

We did not expect a one hour pause in the middle of the day on the green line. That could have been clearer in your online and printed information. The staff on the bus were kind of grumpy, as if we were imposing on their day. I'm sure they get asked the same questions over and over, but if it weren't for passengers, they wouldn't have jobs! With the inadequate information available to me, I had to ask them questions that they thought were kind of stupid I guess. Other than that, it was very enjoyable to see the city and hear a little bit about its history. We had a wonderful day.
