Our travel guide, Will was awesome. Very enjoyable day out although it was still very humbling. Recommend anybody to visit the Monash WWI museum.

What a day. So much more about the Australian involvement in WWI I didn’t know. There was an inkling. At school, we’re taught about Gallipoli. I didn’t fully understand the significance of Villers-Bretonneux. We started out at the cathedral in Amiens. It was damaged by the German bombings in 1918. The Australian defence of Villers-Bretonneux prevented the Germans from advancing on Amiens, and the town became a safe zone for allied forces. We stopped the Thipeval Memorial of the Missing and then at the Pozieres Memorial and at the Australian Corps Memorial Park in Le Hamel. Our last stop was the John Monash Centre near Villers-Bretonneux (Somme) in northern France. So much more information and the memorial is beautiful. I also feel this day was possibly the coldest I have ever felt. Imagine fighting a war in those conditions - cold, rain, snow. I can’t.

An educational and profoundly moving day. Even people with little more than a vague interest in WW1 history will gain something from the experience, especially for Australians and Canadians. Highlights included the breathtaking Amiens cathedral, the preserved trenches around the Newfoundland memorial, the devastation memorial to the missing, and the John Monash Australian War Memorial. Our guide Etienne demonstrated genuine passion for the region and events, and was well-prepared, patient and highly professional. Hot tip: rug up, and wear waterproof footwear with decent tread - our day turned out to be much colder than forecast!

Moving and respectful tour of key sights and memorials of the Somme. Our tour guide Marie was genuine and passionate about the history and the places we visited on the tour. Marie was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and open to discussion with the group on many topics. And an excellent driver despite the conditions, e.g. French drunk drivers. It’s a long day but Marie made it enjoyable and informative. Highly recommend if you want to do something different from Paris.

Every place we visited was relevant and gave us a great insight into what the Canadian, NZ and Aussie troops faced. Our guide, Frankie, was very knowledgeable and accommodating. He even took us to see the school in Villers-Bretonneux that the Australian government had raised funds to provide. Our group thoroughly enjoyed the long day. It’s a must for any Aussies visiting Paris.

An excellent full day tour. It covered many of the significant war memorials, especially in relation to Australian’s and Canadians. The lunch stop in Pozières although not included was amazing (LE TOMMY Café). Our driver/Guide Etienne was great bringing to life each stop with historical stories and facts. I would highly recommend doing it.

We had the most amazing Tour guide/driver Philipe. He was very knowledgeable and passionate about this tour and he made it for a great day out even though it was not the best weather on the day! We nearly got blown away at a couple spots but we were lucky rain held off long enough to do tour which was a bonus! It rained all the way back which wouldn’t have been ideal for Philipe to drive in. He was a character and we enjoyed his company & commentary throughout our Tour. He made it a totally enjoyable and memorable day. Can’t thank you enough Philipe and I hope your Company passes on our heartfelt thanks 🙏 this is a tour I thoroughly recommend people take the time to do. Many thanks Philipe & Blue Fox Travel.
