Windhoek's Heartbeat: Unforgettable City & Township Tour

Visited to main buildings in Windhoek from colonial times through to modern. Then visit to township created during apartheid and a local food market. Then to informal settlement which houses 300000 people in tough conditions. Lastly visit to women's craft cooperative. Michael was very informative.

Great tour to get an understanding of the reality of living in Windhoek. We were briefed on the history of Windhoek then drove through the various neighborhoods that are part of Windhoek.

We had a wonderful tour with Shaka. He was very informative, knowledgeable and affable. He drove us through parts of the Township that were off the beaten path. He delighted in telling us about the history and culture of Namibia.

Shaka - our guide was excellent. Very informative and helpful. The highlights were the stop for the meat and pap snack and the tour of the township areas.

The tour was easy to book and pay in advance, and confirmed by email. I was collected from my hotel on time and then the driver stopped to pick up four others. The minivan was comfortable and driver professionally friendly. Sites were a good mix of modern cultural history plus a few excellent, though pricey, craft markets. We were back later than planned due to the tardiness of some tourists in the group.

There were only 4 of us and Smithley (the guide). He told us a lot of things about Windhoek. He also replied to our questions. We also saw the non-touristy side of Windhoek. Then we were in the market and I tried Oukuki with Salsa which was very tasty. I can recommend you to book this tour especially if it's guided by Smithley. Overall a great experience to start your vacation in Windhoek and don't forget to buy souvenirs at Penduka 👌🫶
