You should do this tour if you love adventure. Puerto Plata with its charms invites you to experience the 27 waterfalls of Damajagua (27 Charcos), discovered just a few years ago and submerged in the beautiful hills of the northern mountain range, this natural monument is part of the system of protected areas of the Dominican Republic. 27 Waterfalls is hidden up in a tropical canyon is a string of waterfalls that you can hike to and slide down, swim under, and jump off on your way back down. You'll head up with a tour guide who will help make sure you're jumping off of safe spots, might explain some of the history of these gorgeous falls, some of which have ancient legends stemming back from the Taino Indians who first discovered this gem, and from my experience will just make the adventure even more fun.

A must do!! So much fun. Water was cold (but what do you expect in Feb?) Surprised I did the jump but glad I did. Driver and guides were great and took good care of us. DR luncheon was delicious.

It was a great shore excursion. We felt safe with our driver, Sadiel. He took great care of us. Highly recommend this experience.

Want to give 3.5 stars but that’s not an option! My husband and I did this adventure while in port with our cruise. Overall it was a good experience - our driver was very nice, and we did have fun! I would want others to know - I’m not sure where the “7 waterfalls” were…I was expecting beautiful scenery, and there was some but not as I expected. It was also a MUCH more strenuous activity than I thought it would be. We were able to do it, but I would just want others to know that it will absolutely exhaust you! Also, know that you will be at some point completely submerged in water. 😅 Overall, we don’t regret doing it, even though it wasn’t quite what we expected.

Great enjoyable time. We were told NOT to bring phones. Then, after walking there, the guide pulled out his waterproof bag to hold people's phones, watches etc. Grrrr...no pictures and it was so fun we would have really liked to picture some memories. Go. Enjoy. Have a safe place to put phones cuz you will need it. After, we visited a choc, gem, sangria, coffee making plantation. That was also fun.

This is a fantastic experience and the guides are experienced and knowledgeable. It’s a bit of a hike to get to the top but totally worth it. They pace it well and allow for breaks as needed. I’d love to spend the whole day here. The falls, the natural slides, the jumps — so fun! The meal and the pit stop to the tobacco/coffee farm are great too. Highly recommend this trip.

It’s longer than you think. Doesn’t start right away so come with snacks or having already eaten. The food at the end was delicious but we had to wait hours before we ate and the bathrooms were so dirty.

The falls are very cool, and you can push your comfort zone by just going for the jumps and slides, which nudges this excursion to a “recommend.” Not dangerous if you follow instructions, but not risk free. The scenery was amazing, lush jungle and cool trees. The crowds are huge, and the guides try to keep everyone together so even though it’s a long up hike, you stop frequently and must wait for stragglers. If you can walk 3 flat miles in under an hour, I’d say you can do this without terrible strain. There were people in much worse shape gutting it out. We are early 60s for reference. Anything you take will get soaked. You can pack a phone if you want but they recommend not, and you have to secure it well (pocket or string strap.) Saw one guy even keep his vape dry for mid walk toke lol. Photog worth it so you don’t have to worry. Practice your Spanish with them. Ask them to snap anything u want. No idea if pix are good, got thumb drive to unload. Driver/guide (different than the falls guide, gotta tip lots of people) did best to accommodate… to our detriment as another group was an hour late due to not paying attention to the time change from cruise ship. We finally left after almost an hour delay without them, but company must have arranged another transport because they ended up joining us there before heading up the mountain, and rode back with us. So really good service from this company even when you’re at fault, credit for that. Finding van is adventurous looong walk to get out of port (15 minutes?) then turn left to where the line of vans goes down road. Your guy will find you by name, ours was from Edwin tours. Other drivers knew to point us to him once we said the company, so be sure you know that. Also be sure to take both key card and ID to get back in port. They checked hard here and not having one delays you. So 4 stars for our tour service (they could have left with 15 minute grace period and taken care of other family separately instead of inconveniencing all), 5 for the falls and nature, 2 for the crowds and circumstance. Can’t do anything about crowds except raise prices a LOT but then you’re shutting out people and it’s too lovely to allow that. (Like Disney does!) Glad I did it but won’t go again.
