Saona Island: Luxury Catamaran & Speedboat Paradise Escape

The island was perfect as usual. We seen a lot of star fish before we stopped. But when we did anchor. We searched and only found 2 star fish. We tried to show the young kids around us. But most were too far away. Been on this tour a few times. But seen so many. This was a big let down. I would’ve given a 5 if the boat captain would’ve put us on star fish. There was also an error in pick up. But was fixed for the next day. No problem.

Picked us up at Riu Bambu at 7:30 (1/2 hour late). We went to a central meeting place (parking lot) where we sat on the bus for another hour. Finally got to the dock and waited in line for a boat. Got on a speed boat that had an engine problem 1/2 mile out and had to turn around and limp back. Waited for a replacement boat but couldn't get one. 1/2 hour later, limped out to a catamaran for a 2 hour ride to Saoma Island. That was the best part of the trip. We finally arrived at 2:00 pm and by 3:30 we had to leave. All inclusive on the island we were told. The meal was good. The bar was a joke. Rum and coke was the only thing other than water offered. It was in a tiny paper cup about 4 oz and no ice. No beer. Beach was beautiful but ocean was wavy and too agitated for snorkeling and too rocky to walk in. When we got on the oldest speed boat there for our trip back we all expected problems. Few hundred yards out we were turning around again and going back to shore. They forgot 4 people on the island, and we were the last boat leaving. Picked them up and off to Blue Lagoon to snorkel. Beautiful ocean floor about 4 feet deep. We were supposed to see Starfish there but not a living thing to see. 1/2 later back on speed boat for 1/2 or so back to dock. Sat on bus again waiting for an hour and not sure why, but we assumed we were waiting for people. No we were waiting for the guy who wanted to sell us a $20 USD bottle of Mamajuana with our picture on it. Now we knew why they took our pictures before getting on the boats. Most didn't buy it. Finally got back to Riu about 7:30. Mechanical issues happen, but most of our time wasted was because they were so disorganized. Prices were 119 USD to 159 USD per person. Far too expensive for what we got. I would never recommend this tour.

We bought the photos from the photographer on the boat and they were sent but when we got back to the resort they are gone. Nowhere to be found🤷‍♀️

We had a large group and what a fun party day this was!!! It started off a little rocky with some rain but quickly turned to paradise. We all ate and drank a little much so our catamaran ride home was a huge hit!! We danced and laughed all the way home!! The water and scenery was to die for!

The trip was amazing! Our tour guide Danny was great. He gave us history lessons and information about the island on our way to the boats. The water was beautiful and the catamaran ride was awesome! I would definitely recommend this excursion.

My sister and I had a wonderful time. I was a bit nervous given some of the reviews I read that made it seem like a nightmare… so I had set my expectations pretty low… it was my 39th bday and we had a fabulous time our pick up at hotel was at 8:20am in Cap Cana got to the drop off to meet the bigger bus by 8:45am and from there we drove to the port with a pit stop at a souvenir stop to pee… our group was 16-20ppl We arrived to port by 10:15am and got on a speed boat at 10:45am after intros etc. The speed boat sat about 20 of us and it was super fun and went crazy fast to the natural pool. We had an excellent crew led by Pedro and Brian was awesome. Drinking starts before noon i recommend you pace yourself! We got a bit tipsy before lunch… We got to saona and had a good lunch more drinks served and a more photos taken of us by the travelling photographer… we got a great price for all the photos he took of us 😉 The catamaran on the way back is the way to go! We had a dance party and I think that’s way better to end the day off… the catamaran combined Several tours together which was fun. We got back to our hotel 6pm All in all you have to have the right attitude booking these tours… if you are a princess and hate to meet new ppl don’t book… if you have an open mind and coming on the trip with gratitude you’ll have a blast! We did and we would certainly recommend to others !

This trip was pretty awesome. Helpful hints: don't sit near speakers on boat! They have photographers taking pictures which I purchased-loved this experience!

Tony and Sol Cana tours took us from and to the airport and also booked this great excursion at Saona Island for our family. No hassle and everything was taken care of with a few messages. Thanks Tony and Sol Cana for helping us enjoy Punta Cana!

Saona was beautiful but… To get there with this tour you have to be in two different busses, sit in a overbooked catamaran on the ground (ass to ass), and sit in a speedboat. Also, you have to enjoy this beautiful island with approx 500 other people on the same beach. There are a lot of mosquitoes so a repellent is necessary. Time on the beach itself was 2 hours (from the 12 travel hours in total, and the natural pool was not even a hour. Tour-guide did his best

First let us give a huge thank you to TONY (Ramon Antonio Cuevas Brioso) He made our whole trip easy, he was always available and he was checking in to make sure we were picked up and arrived on time. We didn’t have to do anything but to show up and he did it ALL for us. He made the trip even more relaxing not having to worry about anything.
