Husavik: Unforgettable Oak Ship Whale Watching Adventure

We booked ourselves for a 2-hour whale watching boat ride but spent a thrilling 3 hours 45 minutes on the boat watching humpback whales. bottle-nosed dolphins and pilot whales. The first hour went by without any sightings, then we saw one whale which we followed, and then a second. Then suddenly all hell broke loose; our guide (and a passionate whale lover) got deliriously excited as he spotted, first, a pod of dolphins and then, soon after, a school of pilot whales. There were a bunch of researchers on the boat who were equally excited as this was apparently an uncommon sighting, very rarely seen. The crew indulged is by following the two species around, not caring that we were well past the return time. Thanks to them we were able to witness in great company and confirm what was a unique sighting. A big thank you to North Sail and the crew of Gardar who took us on the 11 am ride on 28 September.

Cancelled due to bad weather but we're rebooked onto a different tour. Tour operators were very communicative and clear.

Saw humpback and Minka whales. Old school whaling boat was Exceptional! The narrator was great point out not only the whales but interesting facts about whales, water depth, what eating how long lived ,how deep they dive, how communicate . VERY INTERESTING EXPERIENCE!! A++ Must do experience in Iceland!

We had a great time on the whale watching tour. The crew was friendly and knowledgeable. We saw a few different whales, all in all, a great day.

What a wonderful experience! We had smooth seas and were fortunate to see several humpback, porpoise, and a minkie. The crew was knowledgeable and fun. The hot chocolate and cinnamon buns at the end were a smashing finish to an excellent excursion. Highly recommended!

We've had a great day with great crew from North Sailing. Boat was confortable, captain found humpbacks and came very close. Guys from the crew were very friendly and heplful. And not to forget...cinnamons and hot chocolate were delightful 😉 we'll be back for more! Thanks and see You soon!!!

We seen three different types of whales on our excursion. Even though you are on a boat, you get a suit to wear over top of your clothes and it gets a little warm. If you get motion sickness, stay towards the back of the boat.

Its amazing. Be aware that although you do need to layer, they do provide an oversuit and a rain coat.

Great experience, professional and amusing crew. We had the chance to see a basking shark, a family of Northern bottlenose whales, and a Humpback whale. In a relaxed and funny environment. I cannot recall the name of the girl speaking but a special thanks goes to her for being funny and professional entertaining us for the 3 hrs

The whales were hiding! This was disappointing. We only saw one small whale and a few birds. The guide droned on with little interesting information. Cinnamon buns stale.
