Madeira's Wild Wonders: Dolphin & Whale Ocean Safari Cruise

This tour took about three hours as we headed straight out to sea and were lucky enough to see whales. The guides were helpful in explaining what they were and how they behaved, though you should be aware that the boat cannot approach them too closely (c 100m). We didn't see dolphins unfortunately, but on the way back we stopped briefly to swim in the ocean (5-10 minutes). The boat is large and comfortable, with drinks and snacks available to purchase on board.

Wow I love a boat trip but it’s the first time I’ve seen whales and dolphins so close. The views are spectacular as we sailed along the coast and stopped to allow guests to swim. I’ll go again when we come back to Funchal

Lovely boat trip. I was prepared for limited time with the whales due to the local wildlife rules having read other reviews. We also had a chance to swim in the sea. There’s a bar onboard for the Brits who started drinking at 10.45, no judgement haha!

Very well organised! Knew where the dolphins and whales were and kept us informed. We saw both bottle nosed dolphins and pilot whales. Bar on board. Offer another trip if you fail to see any. Would thoroughly recommend

Calm boat ride, very comfortable, drinks bar and toilets, saw lots of dolphins and whales, lovely swim to finish.

There is bar on board and toilets. They make home-made poncha. Be careful when on netting, water will splash. We saw big group of dolphins near ship. One of them was baby.

Excellent staff who were all very helpful and considerate in supporting my disabled companion on, off and around the boat; she was able to easily bring her rollator with her. Great trip, with calm sea and pod of bottlenose dolphins seen for good few minutes - brilliant! There was occasional helpful commentary in both Portuguese and English; staff seemed very knowledgable. Short stop on way back for swimming (myself included) off boat - sea was warm. Recommended trip, including for those with reduced mobility.

We had such a wonderful experience on a beautiful, well-maintained boat. The communication was outstanding, making the whole outing even more enjoyable. We chose the 18:30 time slot, and I feel so lucky to have witnessed a breathtaking group of dolphins during our second trip. We can't express enough how much I appreciate this company and will absolutely choose them again in the future.

It is more of a catamaran cruise than a dolphin and whale watching. It’s fun to be on the water, but don’t expect any education or real focus on finding the animals.
