Smooth trip, as expected and surreal views. Lots of steps and climbing so be prepared for this. Steps are uneven and wet, so wear good footwear.

I still feel the mist on my skin as I write this. A monkey, bold as a thief, had just darted past me clutching a stolen biscuit, and in that very instant, the sunlight caught the spray of the falls, scattering it into a thousand shimmering stars. That image—light, water, laughter—is how the whole day feels in memory. The morning began quietly. Hicham, our driver, arrived before the city was fully awake, his warm smile and soft “sabah al khair” easing us into the road ahead. As we left Marrakech behind, the light stretched gently across olive groves, goats paused mid-crossing, and once, Hicham hummed an old tune I didn’t recognize, but it threaded through the stillness like an invitation. The air smelled of earth after dawn, sweet and grounding. When we reached the village, our guide, Mustapha, led us down the trail toward the Ouzoud waterfalls. The path was uneven, sometimes shaded by fig trees, sometimes opening wide with sweeping views of the valley. The air grew heavier, damp with the scent of wet stone. Out of nowhere, monkeys appeared—playful, quick, curious. One tugged gently at a stranger’s backpack, another leapt across branches with the confidence of kings. Their presence made the descent feel like entering another world. And then, the falls themselves. The roar built slowly, like a drumbeat, until we turned a bend and saw them: towering sheets of white water plunging into emerald depths. I chose the boat ride, and as we glided closer, the roar swallowed every other sound. “Hold on!” the boatman cried, and then the spray struck—icy, wild, exhilarating. My laughter came unbidden, as if the water itself had broken something open inside me. Lunch was a slow pause by the river. A clay tajine, fragrant with saffron and lemon, a crisp salad, fresh bread still warm, and the inevitable mint tea. I sat barefoot on the cool stone ledge, listening to Mustapha share stories of growing up near the falls. A child nearby fed a monkey pieces of bread, their giggles threading into the soundscape of rushing water and rustling leaves. The return was quieter. I dozed, waking just in time to catch the sun dissolving into crimson across the hills. My body was tired, but my heart felt stretched, like I had touched something timeless. This ouzoud waterfalls day trip from marrakech was the soul of Morocco in motion. If nature humbles you, the marrakech to ouzoud route is a must.

The waterfall was a great experience. The boat ride at tge end was really nice, it provides for a cool off after what seems a long walk on a very hot day. Our tour guide was amazing too, he made all enjoyable.

Everything about this day was excellent. We got picked up outside our hotel at 7.30am and were then driven to a pick up point to start our long 3 hour journey. Our driver was excellent and drove really safely. We stopped after 2 hours for a brief break for the driver and then completed our last hour. On our arrival we were greated by our guides - Abdul and Muhammad. Abdul was the main leader and made sure we knew exactly what to expect and he gave us plenty of time to see the amazing waterfall as well as the monkeys! We then walked down to the bottom of the waterfall which was quite steep bit manageable. Abdul made sure we were all OK along the way! When we got to the bottom the sight was incredible. We had a boat trip right up to the bottom of the waterfall (included in the price we paid). After a bit of free time we started the climb back up. After about 150 steps (not steep and easy to climb), we stopped for lunch in front of the waterfall. This cost £11 per person which included a bottle of water, a salad and olives, bread, tagine and melon. It was fantastic value. Abdul then took us the remaining steps (there were alot!), stopping at various points to let us catch our breath! Once at the top, we picked up our transport to get us back to our hotel. We arrived back at 5.30pm. Both my husband and I felt this trip was the highlight of our holiday and cannot recommend it highly enough.

The waterfalls are gorgeous to look at, and the boat ride is lots of fun! Our tour guide was helpful too. But the place was super hectic and I was worried at times that I would lose my guide. He did manage to get all 16 of us around safely though! Phew!

Unbelievable beauty of the Ouzoud Waterfalls was worth the drive from Marrakesh. A great experience enjoyed by whole family which culminated with a boat ride to see the waterfall up close - absolutely stunning!

All in all very good excursion, especially comparing it to the price with the travel agents. Our driver was lovely and told us the plan as we left and brought us back to the hotel too. The guide at the falls Mohammed was great, very chatty and answered our questions. He grew up there so he knows a lot. The spot you stop at for lunch is brilliant and very well priced. Added bonus they don’t charge for the water. The included boat trip was fun, though short but not much to see and we got a fantastic video taken by the driver. The monkeys are near the end of the excursion and if you don’t hold any food they don’t bother you at all. Would really recommend this one.

The tour guide was very courteous and genuine. He went out of his way to make sure that everyone was okay. The bus driver did a great job transporting us from point A to Point B.
