Great tour for an introduction to Shanghai and Chinese dishes. Very well planned and executed. Every dish was delicious and our tour guide TJ did an amazing job introducing each restaurant and dish. She really showed her love for the food of her home town. The restaurants were all in walking distance and seeing the neighborhood was fun. Definitely recommended!

I signed up for the tour aiming to experience a variety of food that sole travelers might not have. I am glad I did and walked away with a full belly with great conversations and travel tips. I gave it four stars only because I was the only attendee that night (the other guy cancelled/did not show up at the last minute.) It would have been ideal if there's more people in the group to share even more types of food. That being said, TJ, the tour guide, ensured she would order food accordingly no matter how big or small the group is. Overall, it was a pleasant food tour for anyone who wants to gain a local perspective in terms of food (of course), culture, life, etc .

Kurr is a very professional guide with a wealth of knowledge about Shanghai. Amazing food. Highly recommended for tourists interested in the food culture and French quarter.

Just got back from this food tour and I’m absolutely stuffed (in the best possible way). Kurt was our guide and he was brilliant, super friendly, made everyone feel comfortable, and kept a nice slow pace for my mum, who was a bit older than the rest of the group. Proper gent. He portioned and served everything himself, and somehow made each plate look fancy even though we were eating on the street half the time. The food was unreal a proper mix of things I’d never have ordered on my own. I’ve done a few food tours before, but this is the first one where I actually had to stop myself from rolling home. 10/10, would happily do it again (after I can move again).

This a was a fantastic experience for us. Excellent communication throughout and lovely to be met on time by our lovely guide, TJ. It was great to get some of the local history as she took us around some wonderful wee local eating places. The food and the overall experience was amazing. TJ was very knowledgeable about the background of the dishes we ate and it was so interesting to experience foods that we don’t get to have in the Western World. Would highly recommending doing this tour early in your trip, to learn a bit more about authentic Shanghaiese food. Thanks heaps TJ, you were an exceptional guide!

Jade and Kurt were great tour guides - they took us to some great small and larger restaurants we would not have known about, and we tried food we would not have been brave enough to order if we’d been visiting without a guide. You can find more info @shanghaifoodietours

I joined the Foodie Shanghai Tour with Jade as my guide, and it was such a great experience. Jade was very knowledgeable, and we had wonderful conversations about Shanghai’s food, culture, and history. I really liked that the tour wasn’t limited to just one spot — we explored different neighborhoods and even visited some local parks, which made it feel more authentic. The food was amazing, and I definitely wouldn’t have found those hidden gems on my own. That’s what made the tour so worth it. My only very minor comment is that there wasn’t any dessert included, but overall, it was an excellent experience that I’d highly recommend!
