Athens Unveiled: Unexpected Local Secrets & Hidden Gems

A friend and I did the Unexpected Athens Orientation Tour and it was by far the best experience we’d had in the city. Our guide Andreas was extremely knowledgeable, candid, and honest about the past and present of Athens and its many unique neighbourhoods. A lot of time in Athens can be spent marvelling at ruins and antiquity — Andreas’s tour and commentary felt like a breath of fresh air and a great way to fully appreciate the modern context of Greek life and the beautiful city of Athens. Absolutely do this tour if you can, and thank you Andreas for your excellent work!

Simos was our guide, he was very knowledgable, showed us places and areas we would never have visited otherwise, he walked at our pace and chatted easily answering all questions. A great tour would definitely recommend this tour.

Go and have a look at some of the non tourist places of this great city. Our guide was incredibly knowledgable about the history of both Greece and Athens, and made it come alive. Excellent morning.

This 4 hour walking tour was the perfect way to start our visit to Athens. We went the day after we arrived, and had an amazing overview of the central part of the city, identifying places we wanted to see later. Nikos was truly a gift to us. He was so thoughtful, listened carefully to what we wanted to learn and shared tips that we relied on throughout our stay. We are so happy we arranged this tour!

Our guided tour with Andreas was one of the highlights of our trip. He struck the perfect balance between being professional and friendly. He managed the group’s logistics, was organised, while delivering a nuanced history of the city and the Greek nation state building process. Longer than expected, but our guide Nikolas was very knowledgable and friendly. The sites visited were off the typical tourist path, which was a plus. There were only three on the tour, which made it much easier to walk around the holiday-crowded streets.

My wife and I booked the The City Tour. Our City Tour was hosted by Andreas, a local greek who took us through all of the different neighborhoods in Athens and we witnessed the changing of the guard at the national assembly. He provided information, history, and guidance on where to go and what to do.

Niko was amazing with a wealth of knowledge and information. Would highly recommend him as a guide and this tour. He responded to our questions and then worked our interests into the tour, even helping us with finding a great place for lunch.
