Athens Culinary Immersion: Unforgettable Local Food Tour

What a fun, interesting and tasty tour! They aren't kidding about "come hungry." Holy moley, that was a lot of food. All of the food was great, from olive oil tasting to lunch at the tavern, to gyros. Wandering the food stalls, spices, olives, fish and meat- a feast for the eyes. I can't say enough good about Joseph, our guide. He learned all of our names, and made individual conversation with each person during the tour. Friendly, knowledgable and engaging, I'd like him for a guide for all tours!

The experience was great. Andreas was a wonderful guide and host - shared a lot of good cultural and historical information while curating amazing foods to try. Really enjoyed the time spent learning more about olive oil production, as well.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Delicious Athens Tour with Laura. She took us all around to the most wonderful places to sample all kinds of local food. We tried traditional food, from savory dishes to sweet desserts, olive oil, coffee and hot chocolate. We were a group of 8, which was a very nice size. Laura is a very thoughtful and conscientious tour guide - she took care to ensure we all had a chance to try everything. It was also nice to walk through other parts of the city with someone who knew where they were going. Don't eat before you go!

A very enjoyable food tour with Socrates. We were brought to try 7 types of food/ cuisine; from spinach pie, bougatsa, traditional Greek coffee, olive oil tasting, souvlaki, tapas and loukoumades. Socrates also told us about the history and culture of the various cuisine. Group members interacted well with one another as we were a small group of 10 pax. We highly recommend this tour but suggest that one should go with an empty stomach as there’s so much to eat. However Socrates kindly got containers for us to takeaway the balance food.

Amazing time! We experienced all the fabulous foods of Greece on this tour. Definitely come hungry! If you have never done a food tour, not only do you get to experience the local cuisine, but you get a chance to learn about the local culture also. My family and I just finished the most amazing Athens food tour with our guide Maria Katerina. I highly recommend the tour to everyone who is coming to Athens! First, it was the perfect sized small group. We had a total of 8 people (4 being from my family and 4 being very nice complete strangers). We walked all over Athens and had so many wonderful tastings. From sweets, to olive oil, to Greek coffee, to gyros, and even a massive spread at a local tavern, there was so much food. They tell you to eat a light breakfast and I did not eat any breakfast at all before we went for maximum stomach room. :-) During the tour our guide gave us great information about churches, neighborhoods, and even Greek history. We felt like locals as we walked through little nooks and crannies of Athens and explored places like Central market and the vegetable market. Everything was delivered in a very enjoyable manner. This tour was an amazing value for the money and everyone had a wonderful time! Maria Katerina was incredible. She was very friendly, considerate, and accommodating to everyone on the tour. If you have a chance to go on this food tour, do it! You won’t be disappointed. :-)

I've been on many food tours in various cities and this was as good as any I've been on. We enjoyed several different Greek delicacies as well as standards like souvlaki and taverna food. The olive oil tasting was both fun and informative. Our guide Andreas was great, explaining everything and answering questions. Come hungry because I felt like I had eaten two meals worth of food by the end!
