Porto's Iconic Six Bridges: Douro River Scenic Cruise

Fair pricing. The perfect way to take in the beautiful scenery of Vila Nova De Gaia and Porto. I was fortunate to have beautiful weather when I took the cruise. Well worth it.

The boat sailed to the two dorections of the canal. We covered a number of bridges. Explained in three different languages

Great tour that’s under an hour and is an open tickets allowing you to do do your between specified time frame.

This experience is average at best. When you sit in the front of the boat, you cannot hear anything. There is a speaker but it’s only for people sitting inside. This experience would be so much better if there was a live person speaking and pointing out landmarks as we pass them.

I wanted to hear more about the city's history while on the boat, but you had to choose between being inside the boat and listening or being outside and taking in the views. Once you get to Porto, you will see a lot of different places offering boat trips on the river. I personally liked this company because it was casual. I got to walk up, they gave me a wait time, and since I came a little early, I just walked around the river before it was time. Overall, really enjoyable experience and I would recommend!

So easy to book on-line. There are several different companies doing this kind of activity. We just presented our phone tickets to the wrong booth at the wharf and the friendly staff just told us to go to the next booth. We got there 15 minutes before the trip and sat right up the front. It doesn't matter where you sit, the view is all around you. The English commentary was interesting and easy to understand. The trip isn't just about the bridges. The views from the water are spectacular.

There were many boats offering the same "Six Bridges Cruise" down at the waterfront, and it was confusing determining which one we paid for. Eventually, we found one that would accept our prepaid tickets. Maybe that's the way it's supposed to work, but it's confusing.

First of all the location I was sent to was wrong, yet the photo was of their boat. They sent me 50 yards to the correct tent. But my booking did not have a time with it so I had to wait an hour to get on the 1 o’clock boat. Once on the boat the one hour tour was great. I could not hear the announcer but didn’t care. When getting off boat I saw a small sign that would have let me download audio to my phone. I highly recommend the Douro river trip, just book one with starting time.

There are quite a few companies running trips along the river. All billed as 6 bridges tour, whereas they don't go under the A20 road bridge furthest up river but turn around after the Ponte de Sao Joao, so more of a 5 bridges tour, really. (You do get to see it, at least!) We took our trip from the Gaia side of the river, having booked on line and found the ticket office (near the Luis 1 bridge) to confirm our boarding platform. If you want to get a front seat then make sure you get in the queue first, as this is where most people head for to get the views going along. The downside with being there is that it's tricky to catch the commentary, which is on loudspeaker in the covered part of the boat (further back). Trip lats about 45 minutes and goes down river almost as far as the estuary and turns and goes back to catch the bridges up river. This is a good way to see the sights along the river front and (no doubt!) the commentary was informative, although we missed most of it! Very enjoyable trip and not bad value (18 euros each for us, plus some discount we had from another trip we had previously made)

Excellent way to see Porto and the Gaia riverfronts, without walking. I loved this experience. Highly recommend taking the Douro Tour.
