1. Saqqara (Sakkara) is an ancient burial ground located about 30 kilometers south of Cairo. It was the necropolis of Memphis, the capital of Ancient Egypt during the Old Kingdom. The Saqqara complex is home to many significant tombs and monuments, including the Step Pyramid of Djoser, which is the oldest surviving stone building in the world. Saqqara also has some of the best examples of ancient Egyptian art, such as the reliefs in the Tomb of Ti, the Tomb of Kagemni, and the Tomb of Mereruka.
